About Chloe of MN

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • General Color: Black
  • Current Size: 35 Pounds
  • Current Age: 13 Years 11 Months (best estimate)
  • Housetrained: Yes

Loyal, loving, playful.

Gets along well with other dogs, cats, children all ages.

Weary of all adults.

Avoids confrontations, gives warning growl if absolutely necessary, followed by urination if threat continues.  Does not show fangs, nor nip, nor bite, will nudge  in effort to stop threat.  Very sensitive and will shut down with loud harsh voices and loud harsh commands.

Will eat after reassured that she is loved and accepted, otherwise, food will go untouched.  A little play time before eating gets her hungry.

We tried raw diet, she did not like it.  She likes her meat cut up and cooked and her dog food.  She also likes canned sardines and tuna.

Respects the trash can.

Recently tested for gun shot shyness.  She was startled.  Hunters observing said that she did well and that she will get used to it.

Knows: Her name, Sit, stay, lay down, kennel up, hi-five, treat, go outside, good job, drop it.

She fetches toys.  Loves to play tug of war with other dogs.

Walks well on leash.  Once she trusts you and knows she belongs to you, she will walk by you without leash and not run off.  Runs well along you, leashed on bike runs.

Responds well to her name and especially to her nick name, chlo-chlo.

Treats and lots of praises motivate her.  Will not eat more than she requires which makes praises more effective than treats.

Highly intelligent and eager to please.

Does not do well alone nor in confined spaces, such as the car or being crated for long periods of time.  Foster mom has been working on this with good results.  Does not do well with changes in routine.  If changes in routine becomes a routine, then she will do well after a period of adjustment.

She recently learned to beg when socializing her at town parades.  So much candy falling from the sky, and so much food found on the ground was like her dream come true.  This is easily corrected because she respects your space and is very good about obeying.

Respects furniture and beds, climbing on them only when invited.

The more you cuddle her, the more she trusts you.  She loves hugs, kisses, and baby talk.  She also loves toys and raw bones.  She plays with dog toys and does not destroy them.  Chole is a very gentle, beautiful soul.
