WHERE I'M BEING FOSTERED: Shreveport, LA

Hi. My name is Chula. It's a Mexican slang word for "cute". And I really am. Everyone says so. And my fur is extremely silky. Like...well, silk! I've had kinda a weird grown' up period although I'm really still a kid. A nice lady in Austin, Texas who has a mixed breed rescue saw a man dumpin' me in a parking lot when I was about 5 weeks old. Can you imagine? She picked me up and took me home. Her daughter thought I was the cutest thing she'd ever seen (she's right) and wanted me for her very own, so I went to live with her. Mistake! She didn't take me to obedience class plus she lived in an apartment where I got very bored. I did what little puppies do. So, mom took me back to live with all her other pooches where I had to be pushy for some toys. I love playing fetch! And tug-o-war. And I love to run!! You better have a fenced yard!!

Now I'm at another rescue with brothers and sisters of my own kind. Cool. I behave pretty well for a one-year old...hey, did I tell you I just had a birthday?!! Yeah, cool. Where was I? Oh, yeah, I behave pretty well...no, VERY well...when foster mom is around (TeeHee). When she's gone for a long time, I sometimes get into things. Not always. But, gee...that box of tissue was just sitting there doin' nuttin'. I know I'll outgrow this and probably very soon. She's trying to crate train me but I really don't like that at all! I guess if I went to obedience school, I'd be more understanding. I heard her say that she will teach me what she learned with her own Eskie at school. School...bleck! I'm very smart and willing to please. I'll show her I don't need no schoolin'.

I love people and don't bark when someone comes over. Actually, the only time I bark...well, not the ONLY time...is when my foster mom comes in the door from being gone. I am so excited!!! And I want everyone to know how happy I am!

I bark LOUD! My foster mom says it's the loudest bark she ever heard....a shrill actually. And it echoes in her den really cool.

But she doesn't like it and is trying to train me to be a little more quiet in greeting her. My "other bark" is normal but I'm really not that vocal. Oh...and sometimes I piddle if she first walks in and talks like she's excited to see me, so she lets me outside right away. Then I'm okay...just regular happy. This is called submissive tinkling and I've heard I can actually outgrow it. Matter of fact, I've only done it twice since I lived here. I'm so good. And very affectionate. And cute. Did I tell you that?

If you're interested in me and would like more information, please contact Karon at: karon@eskierescuersunited.org. You can also click here to fill out an adoption application for me.

Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.

To get me to you, we can do what's called an "Eskie Railroad," which is a group of volunteer drivers who will each drive a certain portion of the transport. (We always ask that you, as the adopter, help out by taking the final leg.) If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you may have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you).

There is a $150 adoption fee required, and please be aware that Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.

Lots of Eskie hugs and kisses!
