About Chimo!

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • Rescue ID: 05-046
  • Housetrained: Yes
Hi, my name is Chimo! This means "welcome" in the Eskimo language, which is just what I love to do-welcome everyone into my big fluffy heart! When visitors arrive at the door, I bark briefly to say hello, while doing my little "Eskie dance" to greet them properly!

I'm an approximately 3-year old small standard-sized American Eskimo female who stands 16-1/2 inches tall and weighs 31-1/2 pounds, which is a bit too heavy, I have to admit. (The real truth is that I'm just short for my weight! HeHe!) But my foster mommy has me on an exercise regime, and I really enjoy going for long leash walks to work off some of those extra pounds! I also love going for car rides.

I'm spayed, housebroken, current on all my vaccinations, heartworm negative and on heartworm, flea and tick prevention. I also just had a "doggie dental," so I can boast a bright, friendly Eskie smile (we Eskies are famous for our smiles, you know!) :o)

I get along well with other dogs, though I'm not really a ball chaser or a games player. We don't know how I would be with cats, but my foster mommy says I turn into a real "Speedy Gonzales" when I spy a squirrel in the back yard, so if you have cats, they better like to run and get chased!

I likely would do well with older children, but I may find it hard to keep up with active youngsters. I would make a wonderful companion for a mature couple who likes to take daily walks, but I probably wouldn't be ideally suited for a high-action family that didn't have time to pay attention to me--I mean, I AM an Eskie, after all!

I love being groomed, and I have a beautiful, full sparkling white coat. Just look at my pictures and you'll see it's true! :o) People who are owned by Eskies can tell you that dirt and mud don't adhere to our soft shiny fur, so we stay very clean. If I get brushed regularly and I'm kept on a healthy diet, I don't even shed very much!

My foster mommy says I'm the friendliest, sweetest little girl, and I will just steal your heart right away! I will make a great companion and best friend to you. And if you're a couch potato kind of person, then I'll be perfect for you, because I love staying very near to you! I'm very happy and content hanging out with my foster mommy and daddy ,and with my stepbrother too. My idea of the ideal forever home is one where I will get lots of love, attention and long walks (but not be overfed). Does that sound like your home? I'm waiting as patiently as I can for my new family, so please hurry up and get me!

If you're interested in me and would like more information, please contact Liz at: liz@eskierescuersunited.org. You can also go to our web site at: www.eskierescuersunited.org and fill out an adoption application for me.

There is an adoption fee required, and whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state. I'm in West Bloomfield, MI with my foster mommy, Susan.

To get me to you, we can do what's called an "Eskie Railroad," which is a group of volunteer drivers who will each drive a certain portion of the transport. (We always ask that you, as the adopter, help out by taking the final leg.) If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you may have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Also, please be aware that Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.

Thank you and WOOF!
