Hi, my name is Princesse, and if you take a look at my pictures, you'll see I'm as pretty as any princess you'll find in those Disney movies! :o) I'm a 7-year old miniature-sized American Eskimo female who stands about 15 inches tall and weighs 33 pounds. Yes, I am overweight, but when my foster mommy took me to the vet, he found that I have a low thyroid level, which accounts for my extra weight. I'm now on thyroid medication, which I'll need to take for the rest of my life (but the meds are very inexpensive), and I'll be able to live as long as any other Eskie. I've even lost 5 pounds since I've been here, and we're working on getting me into "bathing suit" shape!
I'm spayed, current on all vaccinations, heartworm negative and on heartworm, flea and tick prevention. I'm housebroken (not a single accident), leash-trained (I don't pull on the leash at all), and I ride well in the car. My foster mommy doesn't know if I'm crate-trained, but I'm such a sweet and well-behaved lady I probably don't even need one! I had a very rough first 7 years of my life. When my foster mommy rescued me from the shelter where I was turned in, I was in horrible shape--my fur was matted with all kinds of nasty things, I had kennel cough and pneumonia too (I'm fully recovered now, thank you!). My abdominal area was also quite tender, and the vet thinks I was kicked and abused before being rescued. I'm SO thankful for my foster mommy, because she dotes on me and takes such good care of me. She cut away all the mats and bathed and groomed me. I really liked all the attention, and I never once complained when she was brushing those mats out. I have a very beautiful coat that is growing back nicely. It is thick and soft and easy to brush, and I just LOVE being brushed! My foster mommy thinks I could have been a show dog, with my stunningly beautiful face and my dainty legs and paws. (Hmmm, I wonder if Cinderella's glass slipper might have fit me?) I get along well enough with my Eskie foster siblings, though I don't pay them a whole lot of attention--I really prefer to be the focus of YOUR attention. If I'm not, then I just push the other dogs out of the way! After all, what's the good of being a "prin-cesse" if I don't get extra-special treatment? HeHe! My foster mommy doesn't have cats, but I didn't pay any mind to the ones I saw at the vet's office. I'd likely be okay with them as long as they didn't divert your attention away from ME! I probably would get along just fine with older children, as I love being petted by the local school kids when I'm out on my walks. But remember, I'm a dog who wants lots of loving from my adult, to be the apple of your eye and to be spoiled by you (with everything but food, that is!). So if you have grandkids who come to visit you on occasion, that will be fine with me, as long as the kids don't divert attention away from me for TOO long! I'm very affectionate and sedate--more couch potato than athlete, you could say, though since I've lost weight, I'm able to go farther and farther on my walks. I can even zoom around the dog park with the fastest dogs! It would be best if I found a home with people who would love me enough to restrict my diet and provide me with adequate exercise--and of course, make sure I get my thyroid medication every day. Like many Eskies, I'm also a "talker," and I let you know my needs by the different noises I make. My foster mommy thinks it's quite cute and endearing, though she knows not everyone feels that way, so she's working with me to tone down my barking. But I shouldn't be placed in a home or community where there are noise restrictions, like an apartment or condo. I'm not a big licker, but I'll bestow my Eskie kisses by placing my nose against you. I find that's much more dignified and befitting of a princess, don't you agree? My foster mommy says I'm a "Velcro" dog (whatever that means!), and that if you have a free hand, I will make my way under it to get some loving and petting! I'm full of Eskie smiles and kisses now that I've found what it's like to be in a loving home. I wag my tail all the time to show my happiness! I can't wait to find my very own forever family, so I can cuddle on the couch with you and give you all my love. Wouldn't you love to adopt me and show me off to all your friends? (I have a cute little "wiggle" in my walk that will have all your neighbors talking! TeeHee!) My foster mommy says I'm a lovely, lovely Eskie who deserves to be spoiled with lots of love, to help me forget the rough years of my past life. Will you be my Prince (or Queen) Charming who will come rescue me so we can live happily ever after together? If you're interested in me and would like more information, please contact Wanda at: wanda@eskierescuersunited.org or feel free to e-mail my foster mommy directly at: susan@eskierescuersunited.org. You can also go to our web site at: www.eskierescuersunited.org and fill out an adoption application for me. There is an adoption fee required, and whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I?m being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state. I'm in West Bloomfield, MI with my foster mommy, Susan. To get me to you, we can do what's called an "Eskie Railroad," which is a group of volunteer drivers who will each drive a certain portion of the transport. (We always ask that you, as the adopter, help out by taking the final leg.) If I?m not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you may have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Also, please be aware that Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs. Very properly yours, Princesse! (You may now kiss my paw! TeeHee!)
