ADOPTION PENDING ON PEANUT

Meet Peanut of Clermont, Florida......

Peanut is young, wild, and full of energy.  He is a great little guy, playful and an absolute sweetheart, but he can also be a handful.  Without an owner who can provide leadership and structure, Peanut will easily take control of your home.  He needs a forever home that understands the breed and is willing to commit the time and energy to work with him, continue to socialize him and train him.

Peanut came to us poorly socialized.  He can be protective of his home (particularly the front door) and he is fearful of strangers and strange dogs.  He is reactive to fast or sudden movements or sounds.  Once he is introduced to people or gets to know you, he is fine, but that initial meeting sometimes scares him and then he reacts by barking and jumping.  He needs calm, consistent positive re-enforcement training and leadership to help him overcome this fear.  A not too crazy home with limited to moderate activity and company would be ideal.  But Peanut loves to be active and he has QUITE a bit of energy, so an owner who enjoys running, hiking or water sports - and wants a companion to share this with - would find Peanut to be a willing participant.

Peanut gets along very well with other dogs his size or larger, and enjoys playing with them.  In his foster home, he quickly understood his place in the pack, and he and the alpha female love to play together.  We recommend his forever home have another dog for him to play with or he could get into mischief.  Peanut has a pretty high prey drive, so no cats, small dogs or birds.  In his previous home he was teased by the neighbor kids, which certainly contributed to his fear of strangers and unpredictability, so we don't recommend a home with small children.  While he likes all adults, he seems to prefer women.

Peanut LOVES the water and enjoys swimming in a pool, which is also great for releasing some of his young and exuberant energy.  He needs a fenced back yard where he could run around and do zoomies, as well as on owner committed to daily leash walks to work on his "outside the home" socialization skills.

If you're up for the energetic challenge of Peanut, you won't be sorry!  He is a love bug and adores sleeping next to you on the sofa or in bed at night.  He is super sweet, but he also needs some time and an effort.  If you have any questions about Peanut, please email dyan@eskierescuers.org.  If you think you are his perfect forever home, please complete our online adoption application at www.eskierescuers.org

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats

Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.

If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers.

There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.

Eskie Rescuers United American Eskimo Dog Rescue, Inc. is an IRS-approved 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Please click the donation button below to make a tax-deductible donation through PayPal and help make a difference to even one American Eskimo dog!
