Hello!  My name is Pete and I’m a very nice boy looking for my forever home!  I really love people and I like nothing more than hanging around with my people and showing them how much I love them!  Truthfully, I can’t spend enough time with those I have bonded with.  You have probably heard that eskies are sometimes called “Velcro” dogs, right?  Well, I am the ultimate Velcro dog!  My foster mom laughs at me when I jump up in her work chair with her and sit behind her.  Hey, I just like to be close!  Acutally, you should know that I do have a bit of separation anxiety, so I don't do well by myself.  I just love to have my people around me all the time!

Aside from wanting to be right next to my people, you should know that I am highly active.  I love to run and play and jump…and boy, can I jump!  I can easily jump a 6 foot fence so I have to be watched outside all the time.  And if I get out, I do like to run…it’s a fun game!  My people don’t seem to like it as much as I do though.  Oh, and I like to investigate what’s on the counter by sticking my nose up there, but my foster mom is working with me.

Actually, you should know that I am extremely smart and I learn very quickly.  When I do something “bad” all you have to do is tell me ‘no’…and I get it!  I know some basic commands like Sit and Lay, but could use some additional training.  Hopefully I’ll be able to bond with my new people in some training classes!

Some important things you will want to know…I am housetrained already.  And I get along with other dogs…actually I am learning to play with them.  I haven’t had much experience in actually playing with other dogs because I like hanging around my people instead.  But I’m getting used to it and learning how much fun it is!  I have never been around small kids before, but since I am so active, my foster mom doesn't think it would be a good idea to be around them, since I might jump on them and hurt them.

If you are looking for a loving, super active boy, I hope you will consider me!  If you have questions about me, contact Chris at chrisb@eskierescuers.org.  She can tell you all about me.  I hope to hear from you soon!

Love, Pete

More about Pete in CO

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.

If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers.

There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.

Eskie Rescuers United American Eskimo Dog Rescue, Inc. is an IRS-approved 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Please click the donation button below to make a tax-deductible donation through PayPal and help make a difference to even one American Eskimo dog!
