Mikey is new to rescue and we are still learning about him.  

Mikey was an owner surrender because his owner had to move to an apartment and his fierce barking was a problem with the neighbors.  He barks at everything, which is not unusual for an Eskie.  

When my husband and I went to meet him, Mikey met us at the door with teeth bared.  He hovered a couple of inches from us while barking.  He never showed any inclination to bite but I understand why people would find this very intimidating, especially kids.  He calmed down with us pretty quickly when we sat down and let us pet him, but if either one of us stood up he would start barking again.  I don’t feel his is aggressive but he sure talks a big game.

 He’s been good with us here at our home but he’s still going through the “what the heck is going on?” phase.  Once he settles in we will have a better chance to know how he is on a day to day basis.  He also needs a full vet workup including shots, neuter, and a dental so it will be a bit before I can get that all scheduled

He will be available for adoption once he gets all his vetting done.

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.

If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers.

There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.
