Hi everybody!  My name is Oscar.  I'm named after the author, Oscar Wilde--NOT Oscar the Grouch.  In fact, my foster mom says I'm the furthest thing you can be from a grouch!  I came here to my foster home from a shelter in Western KY.  That place had to put down a lot of animals...and my time was running out.  The shelter kept me as long as they could because everybody there loved me so much.  I was a big favorite and spent my time sitting in peoples' laps, which is kind of funny--I'm a big boy, 40 pounds! Those people were nice, but I'm glad to be in a house and not a shelter anymore.

I'm adjusting well to living with my foster mom and foster brother, another Eskie.  I get along really well with him.  I'm never territorial and I pretty much let him call the shots.  My most favorite thing is to have my head rubbed--or to just sit right at my foster mom's feet.  I'm such an easygoing boy.  Even the vet commented on what a great temperament I have!  We don't have any kids or cats here, so I don't know for sure how I would do around them, but given my laid back personality I'd probably be pretty good.  I'm working on house training and walking on a leash, and I've made huge progress over the past two weeks!  I'm a very smart boy, too.

I love my foster home but I cannot wait to find a family who will keep me and love me forever!  Contact my foster mom at emilyebrame@gmail.com if you have any questions.

Oscar is heartworm positive and has started on the gentle treatment (see "Gentle Heartworm Treatment 1/1/12" under Info & Help on the left-hand side of the page).  He takes his meds like a champ!

Good with Dogs

Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.

If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers.

There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.

Eskie Rescuers United American Eskimo Dog Rescue, Inc. is an IRS-approved 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Please click the donation button below to make a tax-deductible donation through PayPal and help make a difference to even one American Eskimo dog!
