This 6 -7 yr old eskie girl was an owner surrender from an elderly person moving into assisted living.  She is such a doll!  She is currently in foster care with 2 young kids, 2 cats, and of course the adults.  She walks very well on a leash and wants to be involved (or at least watch) whatever I am doing.  She rarely barks (only at the doorbell or loud noises) and enjoys being brushed and pampered.  She will gladly roll on her back to let you brush/comb her or trim her nails.  She loves to go on car rides and prowdly sits in her seat and watches everything.

We know that she was greatly overfed and her weight is at the top of our concerns.  We had bloodwork done to rule out thyroid condition and found that she is perfectly healthy.  She is now under carefully measured meals doesn't seem to mind the change up in foods or amounts offered.  I have been gradually increasing the distance of our walks and she is already going 3 times the distance she could do on my first day with her.  She has already lost nearly 2 lbs in just the first 5 days I've had her!  Way to go Diamond!  I should mention that she measures just 16.5 inches at the shoulders, so I am expecting her to get down to about 25-30 lbs.

Get's along great with everyone and has never met a stranger.  She use to live with 2 other dogs and misses their companionship.  I was told she was 5 yrs old but think she might be older.  The vet says she is probably 6 or 7 yrs, but not older, as her eyes are very clear and don't show signs of aging.  Did I mention how sweet she is and that she loves to ride in the car?

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids

Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.

If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers.

There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.

Eskie Rescuers United American Eskimo Dog Rescue, Inc. is an IRS-approved 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Please click the donation button below to make a tax-deductible donation through PayPal and help make a difference to even one American Eskimo dog!
