Vanilla is located in Silver Spring, MD.
Hi! My name is Miss Vanilla. I am a senior eskie in need of a loving home with non-slippery floors and very few stairs. You see as a young puppy I got my right rear leg wrapped up in a window shade cord. By the time my Mommy found me, it was too late. My leg had to be amputated. That was a long time ago. I spent many happy years with my Mommy until she passed away. After that I was shuffled around from shelter to shelter. Finally ERU rescued me. Since then I have been living with my Foster Mom in Silver Spring, MD. I live with three other ERU rescues. Oh my, the two eskie "boys" are energetic and I try to stay out of their way when they come racing through the house. Okay, this is my situation, my Foster Mom's house is warm, comfortable and loving but she has all hardwood floors and these are too slippery for an older gal with only three legs. I slip and slide a lot. Then she lives in a three level home. Those stairs can be way too much for me. I also probably wouldn't do well with children unless they are really gentle. So as much as I love Foster Mom, I really need a little less challenge in my life. When I first moved in I was so scared. I just withdrew. Now, with lots of love and good food (smile) I am pretty happy. I am not one of these high energy eskies, like my foster brothers. I am pretty content just to lay by Foster Mom's side or on her lap. I curl up by the side of her bed at night. She has a nice soft doggy bed just for me. I stay there until she gets up in the morning. I am not a barker unless Foster Mom has been gone for a while. Then I bark with happiness at her return. I also bark if I need to go outside. I love to go for car rides. I come with my own car seat and frankly I look darned spiffy in it. If you have a loving home, easy for my three legs, please contact Foster Mom. I will only have eyes for you. They are full of love. If you're interested in me and would like more information, please contact rescuingeskies@yahoo.com You can also visit our website and sign-up to fill out an adoption application and learn more about our adoption process. I am staying in Maryland until my new family comes along! More about Miss Vanilla of MDGood with Dogs Special Needs: I lost my right rear leg as a puppy (it got tangled in a window shade cord and required removal.) I still move sprightly but stairs and hardwood floors can be challenging for me. As my foster mommy says, she never worries about my jumping on the furniture or people because of my missing rear leg! Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state. Other Pictures of Miss Vanilla of MD (click to see larger version):
