Changed to Sponsorship. Patches has adjusted to his foster home and is happy and behaving well. However, he is a little street fighter at heart, and his foster feels it is better that he not be re-homed again. Please consider a donation toward his care or sponsoring him. Thank you! Hi, Patches here! I am a male American Eskimo mix. Mixed with what, you ask?......well, it's anyone's guess, but the shelter thought maybe there was a tryst with a long haired chihuahua somewhere in my genetic past. I'm a small little guy, only 14 pounds, but I am 50 pounds of pure cocky attitude and irresistible jauntiness. No one can seem to agree on my age. The shelter thought I was 1-1/2 years old, one vet thought maybe 3 to 5, and my current vet thinks 6 or 7 years. Nobody asked me! I look and act like a little kid. They say you're only as old as you feel, and I feel young! One thing everyone does agree on is how unbelievably cute I am. No one can resist my happy smile, my oversized ears and my little patch of caramel fur over my left eye. Even mommy's vet said he would take me home in a minute, I was so darn adorable. When my foster family had to go away for a week and I went to boarding, I stole the show - everyone there LOVED me! If I do say so myself, I am pretty darn lovable and cute. I am moderately energetic, curious, love attention and my favorite activity is sleeping in your lap or next to you on the sofa, watching television with you or the family. I am crate trained and love to snuggle in my crate with my toys (and a treat, please) at night. I am also house trained, but I do need a structured and frequent potty schedule. Mommy likes to keep a belly wrap on me, just in case I have a little accident. I love to go for short walks on my leash, I am well socialized in public, and I get along well with other dogs. I think I am perfect, but mommy says no.......she tells me I was turned into that scary shelter for biting the person who found me as a stray. I didn't mean to, but I was so afraid and in so much pain. I had a unilateral cryptorchid, which means that one of my testicles didn't descend, and then the undescended testicle got sick and became a large tumor in my groin. Mommy's wonderful vet very successfully removed it - and although my recovery took several long weeks and I was still in a lot of pain, I am now completely healed, pain-free, and ready to find my very own forever home. Because of my bite record, my perfect new home shouldn't have any children. But I adore older teenagers, and I love, love, LOVE men. My new mommy and daddy should also be experienced with small breeds, and should be familiar with Eskimo as well as long-hair Chihuahua traits before considering to adopt me. I do need to work on trust issues, but if I am in a home with a man, I should do just fine. A home with balance is important to me, as I need structure and love equally in order to establish trust and good habits. It is very important that I know my place in the pack, for me to be happy and well adjusted. To sum up my ideal forever home:
