Learn more about the American Eskimo Dog.
Hello my name is Diablo! I'm an approximately 1-year old American Eskimo male who weighs about 20 pounds. (I'm either a large miniature Eskie or a small standard.) Life didn't start off so well for me, as I was abandoned twice by my previous families. My foster family thinks I was probably physically abused as well, because I cower when strangers come near me. But I do warm up eventually and I'm also learning how to trust people, since I have such a nice foster family taking very good care of me now! I'm neutered, current on all my vaccinations, heartworm negative and on heartworm prevention. I'm beginning to learn what "potty" means and have had only one accident since I got to my foster home. I like to be taken out often, and I must claim every tree as my own!!! I am kennel-trained, and we're working on my leash training! I really enjoy going for car rides, because I like being with the family and looking out the window! I tolerate getting bathed and love to be brushed. I will lay on my back for all the belly rubs you want to give me! :o) I get along very well with my foster mom's female lab and love to play with her. My foster mommy lives in the country, and when we go on walks and I see cats, they don't even bother me! I'm good with small children-my foster family has lots of kids to play with! I adore the 10-year old girl, who LOVES to hold and cuddle me and carry me all around like a little baby! She spoils me like I never was before and I just revel in it! I have a big back yard that I love to run around and play in. A fenced-in yard at my new home would be great for me since I'm such a fast runner, and I know you wouldn't want me to get lost! I'm just the sweetest boy with the best personality, a great little guy who is looking for that special someone who is willing to work with me and show me I can trust humans again! I'm pretty scared of being left behind, but I'm already starting to come around. With patience and the proper socialization from my new family I won't be like this forever. Then I'll be able to go everywhere with you and be friendly to everyone. My foster mommy promised me she would find the perfect forever home for me. If that's you, please e-mail immediately! I'm so lovable, you won't be able to resist me! If you're interested in me, we can do what's called an "Eskie Railroad" if I'm not local to you. This is a group of volunteer drivers who will each drive a certain distance to get me to you! I'm in Trafalgar, IN my foster mommy, Sandy. If you would like to know more about me, please send an e-mail right away! For more information on me, please contact Wanda at: wanda@eskierescuersunited.org or feel free to e-mail my foster mommy directly at: sandyw@eskierescuersunited.org. You can also go to our web site at: www.eskierescuersunited.org and fill out an adoption application for me! Thank you and WOOF! Diablo!
Eskie Rescuers United
|
Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.
If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers.
There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.
