Hi, my name is Goldilocks, and I think you can see why! :o) I have a beautiful, wavy, ivory-colored coat, with the cutest puppy face and floppy ears. I may have a dash of Golden Retriever in me, not just because I'm so good-looking, but because I'm a very gentle dog with a laid back temperament. My foster mommy says I'm "good as gold."

I'm a standard-size Eskie (on the small-side of standard) and I weigh between 25 and 30 pounds. I'm between 2 and 3 years old and I am house-broken. I'm spayed, up-to-date on all my vaccinations and I'm on heartworm and flea-tick prevention.

When I was rescued, my coat was almost orange because I was living in an area with red clay! But my foster mommy bathed, groomed and pampered me and put me on a healthy diet, so now I'm flourishing in this happy home, and my coat has turned out gorgeous.

I am very gentle with people and I love the two elementary-school aged children in my foster home. I like to wake them up in the morning by jumping up on their beds and snuggling with them. I may have been allowed to sleep with my people in the past because I do try to jump on my foster parents' bed all the time.

I get along with male dogs, but I'm a little feisty around other girl dogs - especially if food is present. So it's best that I'm the only female dog in my forever home. It would be a good idea for you to enroll us in obedience classes so I can socialize more with other dogs and remind me that you are the pack leader. A training class would also help me develop better leash manners -- I don't tug on walks -- well, until another dog approaches -- then I tend to be over-protective and barky. I need to learn that these dogs are not a threat to my human and obedience classes will help you teach that to me.

My foster mom is using a training method called "Nothing in Life is Free" (NILIF); she would be happy to review the techniques with you. It's a very simple and effective program that reminds me that I have to say "please" before I'm rewarded with treats or attention. I have to perform an obedience move first. For example, I have to do a "sit" before I get a belly rub.

And speaking of bellyrubs - boy, do I like those! I also love to be outside rolling in the grass or going for nice long walks. I am a "door dasher" - you need to be careful when you open the door, because I can dash between your feet and get myself in trouble. Obedience classes will help with this because they will teach us to "sit" and "stay" whenever the door is opened. That's a tough one but it's important, because I'm such a sweetheart, and you wouldn't want me to end up on the streets again!

I would do best with a secure, fenced yard so I can zoom around and exercise. I have to be careful not to let my weight creep up because that is bad on my knees. The vet checked my knees and said I don't need any surgery and they will be fine if my weight is kept to a manageable level. So lots of opportunity for me to exercise and a nutricious diet are really important to keep me healthy and strong.

Besides exploring the great outdoors, I enjoy snuggling on the couch with my humans, playing with toys and getting belly rubs. I'm a warning barker, but my bark is not unpleasant or shrill; I also have incredible hearing.

My foster mommy gave me the most lovely compliment. She said if she hadn't already reached her maximum limit on dogs in the household, she would adopt me in a heartbeat. She can't believe how cute and mellow I am, and she thinks I would make my adopters very happy.

I'm a very sweet girl who has been given a second chance at life - will that be with you?

Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.

If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers.

There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.
