Update: September 10, 2008 - I just wanted to let everyone know how well I am doing in my new training! I have come so far and now am very comfortable with all kinds of people! You would be so proud at how much I have learned! The folks at Fetchers Dog Care just love me 'cause I'm such a sweet guy! I really want my own family though, people who will let me give them all my fun and love. So don't forget about me!

Update: September 2, 2008 - Hi again, everyone! I am now in an intensive training program so I can learn to trust people a bit better and learn to get along and play with other dogs nicely. See, I have never been taught any basic training, so I was in need of learning some basic commands! The other thing I'm learning is that I'm not always in charge! This is a hard thing for me to learn, but I'm coming along nicely! Some great folks at Fetchers Dog Care in Denver, Colorado are taking care of me and teaching me some things that will make me a great companion when I find my forever home! Keep checking back on me as I'll be here for a couple of weeks and then I'll be looking for my new home...with all kinds of new commands and lessons under my belt!
Hi There! My name is Domino and I just joined my foster family last week. I was rescued from a shelter in Colorado after another dog there attacked me!! It was so scary, and I lost a few toes from the attack, but I've fully healed and use my leg just like any other dog - I'll even let my foster mom touch it!!
I'm still settling in with my foster family (Mom, Dad, brother and sister Eskies, and some smaller pets) but I'm already feeling brave. Mom is so happy that I ignore the big cage that's in the living room - some bird named Howie lives there and I don't bother him at all!!
I have a huge back yard to play in, a great diet, and have been trying to play with my little Eskie sister Echo, but my e-collar scares her! I had to go to the doctor the day after I came to foster care to be "fixed" - whatever that means!!
The shelter who rescued me found me as a stray, and even though I've already bonded to my foster mom, I'm still very cautious about new people - it's hard to know who to trust these days!! I like to be the boss sometimes, but big brother Evo is the alpha dog in the house and I know not to mess with him. I'm full of energy and bounce off the walls, but Foster Mommy says we are going to "work on that." I'm leaning how to be calm, to listen to commands, and Foster Mommy is impressed that I'm house broken.
My foster home does not have cats or children, and while Foster Mommy plans to introduce me to the world, I'm not sure if I would fit in this type of home yet. I need to be in a home that can move slow with me, and understands that I need some time to adjust - but even after the long day I had coming home from the shelter, I still let Foster Mommy rub my tummy at the end of the day.
OH, and don't laugh at my photos, okay? The shelter I was at never bathed or brushed me, and my fur was matted to the skin. My fur had to be shaved, but Foster Mommy says it is going to grow back!! You can see from the before picture (with fur) what I will look like once my fur grows back in. I'm a beautiful boy!!

Good with Dogs, Is Not Good with Kids
Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.
If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers. There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.
Eskie Rescuers United American Eskimo Dog Rescue, Inc. is an IRS-approved 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Please click the donation button below to make a tax-deductible donation through PayPal and help make a difference to even one American Eskimo dog!
