About Casper Too

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • Rescue ID: 05-035
Woof! My name is Casper Too! (There are so many of us Eskies called Casper that I had to be named differently, because I'm so special!) My foster mommy and daddy just call me Casper (and sometimes "fuzzy butt"--I wonder why?!). I'm a 1-1/2 to 2-year old standard-sized American Eskimo male who stands 18 inches tall and weighs 20 pounds. (Yes, I'm pretty thin, so I need to gain at least 5 to 8 pounds.) My foster mommy thinks I am SO handsome. What do you think? ;o)

I'm neutered, current on all my vaccinations, heartworm negative and on heartworm, flea and tick prevention. I'm mostly housebroken, but not totally, so my foster parents are helping me learn when and where I'm supposed to go do my "business," which of course is OUTSIDE! :o) I'm leash-trained and ride well in the car. I was rescued from a shelter after I was given up by my previous owners, who didn't take good care of me at all! I wasn't given any manners training or any good food, which is why I'm underweight.

But all that is changing for me now that I'm here with my wonderful foster parents. My foster mommy feeds me delicious and nutritious food and really YUMMY treats, so I'm starting to put on some needed weight. My fur coat is very beautiful, so soft and fluffy, and I just love being groomed and petted. You see, I probably never got that kind of nice attention before! I also get doggie lessons every day so I can learn how to behave properly. If you decide to adopt me, I will need reinforcement of my obedience lessons, maybe through an obedience class, which is also a good way for us to bond. Ideally my new owner should have previous experience with Eskies. After all, we ARE a breed apart from all the rest, and we should be treated appropriately! Haha!

I'm crate-trained and love the security of my crate, so you'll need to get one for me, if you don't have one already. You see, sometimes, I get worried and stressed when I'm left alone, but in my crate I feel so safe and secure. My foster mommy gives me a stuffed Kong toy, and playing with it keeps me occupied until I fall asleep and forget that I was left alone. I'm lucky, because I have an extra roomy crate in which I can move around and not feel cramped. When I'm in there I am a VERY good boy! Maybe after I go to my very own "furever" home, I eventually won't have need of that "Linus blanket" crate, because with all the love and attention and affection you'll shower on me, I'll feel safe and content for the first time in my doggie life!

I'm not food or toy aggressive, and I like the other doggies here, but that's because they're not the dominant type. However, one of my foster sisters, Foxy Lady (who is also listed here on this site and is available for adoption), has a more dominant personality like I do, so we don't get along as well, because we're both always trying to prove who's the boss! But the other doggies here let me boss them around, and I like that! Hehe!

We don't know if I would like cats or not, but the squirrels and lizards around here are mighty fun to chase, so if you do have cats, they better be VERY fast when I'm around! When I meet new people I bark at them, but I'm wagging my tail at the same time. I pretend I'm so ferocious because I'm really just scared, and once I realize they won't hurt me, I give them kisses and roll over to get belly rubs and pets! Kids might be afraid of my barking though, so it would probably be best if I were in an adult-only home that is calmer and more peaceful.

One of my favorite things to do is play fetch with a tennis ball. I heard that Venus and Serena live somewhere in these parts of Florida, so maybe they'll come over one day and lob a few for me! (Aren't I just too funny?) I love to zoom around in my fenced-in yard and boy, am I fast! All of us Eskies play chase and keep-away with the tennis balls, so we get lots of exercise. I also love my Nylabones and my stuffed toys--those are the best!

I do calm down, believe it or not, and then I love to snuggle on the sofa with you and get in some quality TV time. I'm content to watch whatever you're watching, and if you give me belly rubs every so often I'll be in doggie heaven! I'll be happy lying next to you chewing on my Nylabone and just looking handsome! I'm a very sweet little guy who's waiting as patiently as I know how for my new forever family to find me--will that be you? Please hurry up and come get me, won't you?

If you're interested in me and would like more information, please contact Leah at: leah@eskierescuersunited.org or feel free to e-mail my foster mommy and daddy directly at: kim@eskierescuersunited.org. You can also go to our web site at: www.eskierescuersunited.org and fill out an adoption application for me.

There is an adoption fee required, and whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state. I'm in Palm Beach Gardens, FL with my foster mommy and daddy, Kim and Jeff.

To get me to you, we can do what's called an "Eskie Railroad," which is a group of volunteer drivers who will each drive a certain portion of the transport. (We always ask that you, as the adopter, help out by taking the final leg.) If I'm not local to you (as explained above) and you really have your heart set on me, you may have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Also, please be aware that Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.

Thank you and WOOF!
