About Chewbacca

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • Rescue ID: 05-045
  • Housetrained: Yes
Hi, my name is Chewbacca, but my friends call me Chewy! I'm a 7-year old standard-sized American Eskimo male who weighs 40 pounds. I just arrived at my foster home a few days ago, and boy am I glad to be here! My foster mom thinks I'm a very handsome boy, with all white fur.

I'm neutered, current on all my vaccinations, heartworm negative and on heartworm prevention. I'm also housebroken. In my previous life, I was diagnosed with IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome). I was put on medication and my diet was changed. Since coming to my foster home I haven't had any problems. I ask to go out more often than my other foster siblings, but I've never had an accident in the house! I can even last all day while my foster mom is at work. (I think that because I'm now in a less stressful environment, my problems will be resolved.) I absolutely love going for walks. I behave well on a leash and stay right next to my foster mom. I also enjoy going for rides in the car and I ride very well in the back seat.

I get along well with my foster siblings and I only get in trouble when I get too curious. (I just have to know what's going on at all times. Maybe I should have been a scientist--or a reporter!) I love to get attention, but I don't have to be in the spotlight. I'm just as happy to sit back and watch the show. I love meeting new people, and I warm up to them instantly. I'm not sure about children, since my foster mommy doesn't have any.

After I was convinced that a bath was a GOOD thing, I did a great job of standing still. I'm not crazy about being brushed, but I tolerate it well for a while. Unlike many Eskies, I don't bark much. I will let you know if someone comes to the door, and I'll occasionally bark once if I hear a strange noise. Since I'm such a big boy, I don't get on the furniture. I prefer to be on the floor by your feet. All in all, I'm a great guy.

I'm very sweet and quiet and I love EVERYONE!!! Wouldn't you love to have me in your home and give me a chance at a wonderful life? I know I'm waiting for my new forever family--will that be you?

If you're interested in me and would like more information, please contact Wanda at: wanda@eskierescuersunited.org or feel free to e-mail my foster mommy directly at: erin.bossung@gmail.com. You can also go to our web site at: www.eskierescuersunited.org and fill out an adoption application for me.

There is an adoption fee required, and whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state. I'm in Indianapolis, IN with my foster mommy, Erin.

To get me to you, we can do what's called an "Eskie Railroad," which is a group of volunteer drivers who will each drive a certain portion of the transport. (We always ask that you, as the adopter, help out by taking the final leg.) If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you may have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Also, please be aware that Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.

Thank you and WOOF!

Chewbacca!
