I'm a sweet and beautiful white CocoNUT! :o) I'm a very lovable, friendly, playful 2-year old mini-sized American Eskimo male who weighs about 17 pounds. I just LOVE being the center of your attention! I'm neutered, current on all my vaccinations, heartworm negative and on heartworm, flea and tick prevention. I'm crate-trained and housebroken, and will even go to the door when I need to go potty! I really enjoy going for car rides, so whenever you start up the car, I'm ready to go! HeHe! I'm a well-mannered little fella, though my new family will need to continue with my obedience training (I still need a little more practice walking on a leash). I understand the "sit" command, but I definitely need lots of reinforcement with the command to "come," because I'm a rather accomplished escape artist. If I ever get away from you, you'll need to know how to get me to come back! For this reason, the yard in my new home will need to have a high, secure fence. I get along well with other pets, though if you have cats I may bark at them and try to chase them--all in fun, of course! I also LOVE to give kitties sweet Eskie kisses. One of my foster kitty siblings doesn't appreciate my affection, but then again, he's out-numbered. Tee-Hee!! Because I crave so much of your attention, I wouldn't even mind being an only dog, but that's not an absolute. Like many Eskies I tend to have a dominant personality (not to be misconstrued as aggressive, because I'm not that at all). This just means that you, as my owner, need to assert yourself as the pack leader in our home. Otherwise, I will take on that role myself! ;o) (They'll teach you all about that when you take me to obedience classes.) I don't bark much, which is unusual for an Eskie! I love my toys and chewies Most of all, I enjoy being held and cradled in your arms, like the other kids! TeeHee! My foster mommy, who is really sweet to me, says I'm energetic but not high-strung, and that I adapt really quickly to new environments. And she should know, because she has a lot of experience with young Eskies like me! If you're interested in me and would like more information, please contact Deborah at: eskierescuer@aol.com. You can also click here to fill out an adoption application for me. Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state. To get me to you, we can do what's called an "Eskie Railroad," which is a group of volunteer drivers who will each drive a certain portion of the transport. (We always ask that you, as the adopter, help out by taking the final leg.) If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you may have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). There is a $150 adoption fee required, and please be aware that Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.
