Hi, my name is Foxie. But my foster mom wants to call me "Gizmo" because she says I look like the little teddy-bear creature on Gremlins. And I'm just as lovable...even when I get wet!! (Teehee) I am a real lover and listen to instructions very well, but I just want to be kissed and petted and loved.

I'm a wee little 3 or 4 yr old weighing about 17 lbs and I stand about 16" from the top of my cute little head to the floor. I was previously owned by an elderly man who really didn't know how to take care of a dog, let alone little ol' me. So, I was hit by a car and my pelvis was broken in two. The old man told the vet to put me to sleep but that wonderful, wise vet knew that I would be just fine with some TLC. So, after shaving off my beautiful fur and resting about 8 weeks, my hip has totally healed.

I'm spayed, current on all my vaccinations, heartworm negative and on heartworm, flea and tick preventative. I'm housebroken, get along with other dogs (just as long as they respect my space), and I'll bark at strangers when they first arrive but in a few minutes, I'll be begging for them to pet me. I don't know about cats because I've never been around them.

I've enjoyed being with my foster mom and had several foster brothers and sisters. I am a very laid back little girl and don't play with toys although I have been known to romp just a little with my older foster brother. He knows how to treat a little girl like me. The other frisky dogs just don't interest me and I'll go into my little corner to get out of their way. I get along with all of them but I'd really prefer to be the only apple of my owner's eyes. I love it when my foster mom just holds little ol' me and kisses on me. I would be perfect for an older couple that just wants a couch potato that just wants to walk me a little and love and cuddle a lot! If there are kids in the family, I'd prefer them to be older.

I was told that I have to tell you about two little problems I have. The first is a common knee joint thing called "bilateral luxating patellas" or floating knees. Whew...that's hard for me to say! It's often seen in small dogs and is most likely hereditary (although it could have been from an injury...hmmm). Anyway, the vet says it a Grade 1, which is not severe but I have to stay trim and get some walking in. If it ever gets worse in my older age, I can take some Glucosamine-Chondroitin for dogs (gosh, that's hard to say too!) or have surgery. Gee, I think I'd rather take the vitamins.

There is a pill I take for a little problem I was experiencing. Actually, I take this very inexpensive pill and I don't do it. "It", if you must know, is a little dribbling, piddle experience I didn't even know I was doing. So, I take this pill twice a day and....no accidents!

So, enough about me, tell me about you!! Fill out an adoption application on little ol' me!

If you're interested in me and would like more information, please contact Karon: karon@eskierescuers.org. You can also visit our website and sign-up to fill out an adoption application and learn more about our adoption process.

Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.

To get me to you, we can do what's called an "Eskie Railroad," which is a group of volunteer drivers who will each drive a certain portion of the transport. (We always ask that you, as the adopter, help out by taking the final leg.) If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you may have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you).

There is a $150 adoption fee required, and please be aware that Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.

Lots of Eskie hugs and kisses!
