About Polar!

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • Rescue ID: 04-146
  • Housetrained: Yes
Hi, my name is Polar! I'm a 1-year old miniature American Eskimo boy who weighs 20 pounds. I'm recently neutered, current on all my vaccinations, heartworm negative and on heartworm prevention. I'm about 90% housetrained, and my foster mommy is teaching me not to mark in the house. I'm sure I'll learn that very quickly, now that I've been neutered.

I'm a meek little guy who only wants to please, and to get lots of love and affection and attention in return! I'm looking for a new owner who will be willing to work with me on the socialization and obedience-training I didn't receive in my former life. I never even used to have a collar, but I'm getting pretty used to wearing one now. I was also never taught how to walk on a leash, so my foster mommy is working with me on that concept. I do know how to sit on command, and I'm very gentle when taking treats, because I know that if I'm good, there's a very good chance I'll get more!! :o)

I get along pretty well with other dogs and I tolerate cats well enough. We're not too sure about young children, but I think I'd prefer to be in a mainly adult household. (I would love to be able to sleep in bed with my new humans!) I LOVE to run around the yard, so a fenced-in yard is an absolute must for me!

If you're experienced with the Eskie breed and are looking for a loving, attentive companion who will also be a good watch dog, then I may be just the dog for you! If you would like to sponsor me, please send an email to sponsor@eskierescuersunited.org because I need rawhide chewies, treats, Wellness dog food, flea and heartworm medications, and maybe even a toy or two!

If you're interested in adopting me, we can do what's called an "Eskie Railroad" if I'm not local to you. This is a group of volunteer drivers who will each drive a certain distance to get me to you! I'm in Mooresville, NC with my foster mommy, Judy. If you would like to know more about me, please send an e-mail right away!

For more information on me, please contact Liz at: liz@eskierescuersunited.org or feel free to e-mail my foster mommy directly at: judy@eskierescuersunited.org.

You can also go to our web site at: www.eskierescuersunited.org and fill out an adoption application for me!

Thank you and WOOF!

Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.

If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers.

There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.
