About Jasper!

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • Rescue ID: 04-221
  • Housetrained: Yes
Hello, my name is Jasper! I'm a 10-month old miniature American Eskimo boy who stands about 12 inches tall and weighs 15 pounds. I'm a very sweet little boy who has had a rough life up until now! :o( My previous owner put a regular collar and a flea collar on me when I was a little pup but never adjusted the sizes of the collars as I grew bigger. They became deeply embedded in my neck and had to be surgically removed! Despite my very sad story, I am a normal and healthy puppy and my hair is growing back nicely, thank you!

I'm neutered, current on all my shots, heartworm negative and on heartworm prevention. I'm also housebroken. Sometimes fast movements, loud noises or new things will frighten me, but my foster mommy and daddy are working with me so I'll be less scared of things. They think I am quite nicely adjusted, all things considered! For now I only like being picked up when I ask to be; otherwise I will run and hide. I also don't like being pulled by my collar-it hurts and makes me sad. (Can you blame me?)

I am good with other dogs and love playing and wrestling with my foster sister. My foster brother sometimes barks at me and scares me, but deep down I know he really likes me. We're not sure how I'd be around kitties, but because I'm so laid back, I'm pretty sure I could learn to like them-particularly if they like to wrestle! :o) Because fast movements tend to scare me, we're not sure how well I would do with younger kids. Older children who are calm and give me lots of love and affection would probably suit me best.

I REALLY enjoy running in my foster mommy and daddy's FENCED backyard. There are so many neat things to explore! Because I like to run and romp so much, I would really like my forever home to have a fenced-in yard. I like to play with balls and chew on bones-yummy! I must not have gotten to play and run around much before, because I am still clumsy and awkward on my puppy legs! But I do love to play chase! I am definitely a curious little puppy, but I also love sitting on your lap and being held. I am not very talkative, just enough to remind now and again that I'm here! I prefer to sleep in bed and cuddle up with you before going to lie at the foot of the bed to sleep through the night. If you're not a morning person, then I'm just the guy for you, because I'll let you sleep in until you finally wake up!

If you're interested in me, we can do what's called an "Eskie Railroad" if I'm not local to you. This is a group of volunteer drivers who will each drive a certain distance to get me to you! I'm in Columbus, OH with my foster mommy, Maggie. If you would like to know more about me, please send an e-mail right away!

Please contact Leah at: leah@eskierescuers.org for more information on me!

You can also go to our web site at: www.eskierescuers.org and fill out an adoption application for me!

Thank you and WOOF!

More about Jasper!

Is Not Good with Kids

Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.

If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers.

There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.
