Learn more about the American Eskimo Dog.
Hi, my name is Nipsu! I'm a 13-month old miniature-sized American Eskimo female who stands 13-1/2 inches tall and weighs 15 pounds. I'm ivory-colored, with a large "saddle patch" of biscuit coloring on my back. My previous owner kept me shaved, but when my coat grows out I'll be a real teddy bear of a dog! I was kept tied up all my life, so I'm very happy to be allowed more freedom in my foster home. I'm spayed, current on all my vaccinations, heartworm negative and on heartworm, flea and tick prevention. I'm also housebroken and leash-trained, but I haven't been crate tested yet. I have to admit that I don't ride very well in the car, so maybe I need to learn my crate-training so I can become a better passenger. I get along well with other dogs, but I don't like cats. I'm also not crazy about children, so it would be best if my new home didn't have kids. I am friendly with strangers however, although I tend to be a warning barker, like many of us Eskies are. Sometimes I'm rather possessive of my toys and my human and can be a bit "nippy," so my foster mommy thinks whoever adopts me should be an experienced Eskie owner. I'm very energetic and I LOVE to play--with toys, people and with other dogs. But I'm also extremely friendly, affectionate and loving, and just want to be a member of the family. I'm an avid cuddler and lap dog wannabe, so if you're looking for someone to snuggle with you on these long cold winter nights, look no further, because here I am! I'm a very sweet girl who is waiting so eagerly to show my new family how loving I can be--will that be you? Won't you take me into your home and give me a chance at a wonderful life? If you're interested in me and would like more information, please contact Wanda at: wanda@eskierescuersunited.org or feel free to e-mail my foster mommy directly at: pegbenoit@yahoo.com. You can also go to our web site at: www.eskierescuersunited.org and fill out an adoption application for me. There is an adoption fee required, and whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state. I'm in Chambersburg, PA with my foster mommy, Peggy. To get me to you, we can do what's called an "Eskie Railroad," which is a group of volunteer drivers who will each drive a certain portion of the transport. (We always ask that you, as the adopter, help out by taking the final leg.) If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you may have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Also, please be aware that Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs. Thank you and WOOF! Nipsu!
