WHERE I'M BEING FOSTERED: Centreville, VA

Hi, my name is Quincey! My foster daddy says I'm an exceptionally sweet and adorable boy--and oh-so-cute too! Take a look at my pictures and see if you don't agree. :o)

When I first came into rescue I was diagnosed heartworm positive, but I was treated for that several months ago and I'm all better now, though I'll need to be retested in May one last time. I'm just about perfect now, but I do have to let you know this one thing about me:

I'm a very active and excitable kind of guy, and if I play or roughhouse too exuberantly and then immediately drink a lot of water, it will come right back up. My foster daddy has medication for me for this, but he rarely has to use it. He just makes sure to limit how much water I drink after I've been chasing the other doggies here around the yard. (He also makes sure I don't eat grass or grass clippings, because that seems to trigger the problem also.)

I LOVE going for walks and get so excited when I see a leash. I even grab my leash and try to walk myself! Or if I can't get hold of my own leash, I'll grab one that's on the other dogs and try to walk them for you! HeHe! I'm crate-trained and eat all my meals in there (so my foster siblings can eat their food in peace).

I get along very well with other dogs, and I just love playing with them. I do okay with cats too, and I really love children, especially active kids who will play and interact with me and help me burn up some of my energy. I especially love to play catch with you. I'm very fast, so when you throw the ball, I'll chase after it and have it back to you in no time so we can do it all over again!

I have to admit I can get quite vocal, especially around meal time or when I need to be taken out. Hey, if you were hungry or had to go to the bathroom, you'd be sure to let someone know about it too! I also get VERY excited if I know there's a treat coming. There pretty much isn't anything I don't like--I even like to chew on ice cubes!

I'm a real love sponge who wants to be with my people all the time. And if you have another pet, you'll need to make sure I get plenty of attention too so I won't feel deprived or jealous.

I'll be sure to let you know when I want attention, but the way I do that might be annoying to some people. You see, I will bark a lot or jump up on people until they acknowledge me. My foster daddy is working very hard with me to help me realize this is not acceptable behavior, but I'm such an energetic, enthusiastic guy I tend to forget, so you'll need to be patient with me and continue to work with me in this area. Some formal obedience training might do the trick here.

I love playing outdoors and running around the yard. A home with a fenced-in yard would be ideal for me! And as you can see from one of my pictures, I really take to the snow! (We aren't called Eskimo dogs for nothing! HaHa!) If I'm left outside unattended, I might start digging holes in the yard and get myself all muddy. I never do that when my daddy goes outside with me though, so if you value your landscaping, you should probably always accompany me outdoors.

I'm a very affectionate guy who wants to give you every ounce of love in my body. I would love to find an active forever family who can spend lots of time with me, walking and playing with me, and helping me expend some of my high energy. I promise I will repay you with all my love, every single day of my life!

If you're interested in me and would like more information, please contact Wanda at: wanda@eskierescuersunited.org, or feel free to e-mail my foster daddy directly at: bill@eskierescuersunited.org. You can also go to our web site by clicking here to fill out an adoption application for me.

Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.

To get me to you, we can do what's called an "Eskie Railroad," which is a group of volunteer drivers who will each drive a certain portion of the transport. (We always ask that you, as the adopter, help out by taking the final leg.) If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you may have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you).

There is a $150 adoption fee required, and please be aware that Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.

Thank you and WOOF!
