Hi, my name is Rusty! I am a 7-year old miniature American Eskimo boy. Though I weigh only 13 pounds, I'm kinda tall, so I actually look bigger! You may not think I'm a purebred Eskie because of my coloring, but I certainly look like one in every other respect. My foster daddy thinks I could be related to the Finnish spitz, because I resemble a picture he saw of one.
I'm neutered, up to date on all my shots, heartworm negative and on heartworm prevention, as well as on flea and tick prevention. I also have beautiful white teeth, because I just got a good dental cleaning, so I can display that trademark Eskie smile with great pride! Unfortunately, my previous owners didn't take care of me well enough, so the nice vet had to remove some of my bad/loose teeth. But I'm just about perfect now. My mouth is all healed up and I can eat just fine--in fact, there's nothing wrong with my appetite! :o) I'm leash trained and love to go for walks, as well as for car rides. I'm also crate/kennel trained, but I'll admit I don't like that a whole lot, because I'd much rather be with you than be penned up. Can you blame me? I'm almost completely potty trained. (I was just recently neutered, so my foster daddy and I have been working on my indoor manners, and he's teaching me not to spray any more--and I think I'm quite a good little pupil! He thinks so too!) I'm a VERY sweet little guy, extremely affectionate and cuddly, and I LOVE to give kisses! I'm good around people of all ages (including little kids), I get along very well with my foster daddy's other dogs, and I even like those cat critters I've seen wandering around his house! I would do best in a home with a fenced-in yard, because I like to run around the back yard and check out all those exciting noises and smells. And you know, there's so much to see and do that I might be tempted to go exploring beyond my own borders otherwise. If you are interested in me, we can do what's called an "Eskie Railroad" if I'm not local to you. This is a group of volunteer drivers who will each drive a certain distance to get me to you! I'm in Centreville, VA with my foster daddy, Bill. If you would like to know more about me, please send an e-mail right away! Please contact Leah at: leah@eskierescuers.org for more information on me! You can also go to our web site at: www.eskierescuers.org and fill out an adoption application for me! Thank you and WOOF! Rusty!
Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state. |
