About Sasha

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • Rescue ID: 05-226
  • Housetrained: Yes
Hi, my name is Sasha! I'm a 6-year old standard-sized American Eskimo female who weighs 28 pounds. I've been rehomed three times in my relatively short life, all through no fault of my own. The first time was because there was a new baby in the house; the second time was due to a divorce; and the last time someone thought I was too big to be an indoor dog! Can you believe that? At 28 pounds I'm too large to be allowed inside somebody's home? Huh!!! I really crave a permanent, loving home, so I can stop feeling so disposable. I think I deserve better than that!

I'm spayed, current on all my vaccinations, heartworm negative and on heartworm, flea and tick prevention. I'm housebroken and have full house privileges, because I never make messes when you're gone. I'm leash- and crate-trained and thoroughly enjoy going for long walks. I also ride well in the car--if I get to ride in the front seat, that is! (Otherwise I tend to get a bit whiny because, you see, I'm just trying to give you directions and help you drive! HeHe!)

I get along great with EVERYone--dogs, cats, humans, children of all sizes and ages, even strangers. I have no aggression issues at all. I'm VERY playful and will keep you (or other dogs) entertained for hours. I love toys, especially the rope kind, though I also enjoy the stuffed ones. (The only problem with those is I can "de-stuff" them in no time flat!) I will bark when you first leave for work, but if you give me a stuffed frozen Kong toy, I will occupy myself with that and forget you ever left. Then I like to take a nice long snooooooze!

I'm a very smart little girl and I know several commands, like "sit," "stay," "down," "speak," "shake," and "dance." Sometimes, though, I'll only perform if I know I'm going to get a treat--I'm very food-motivated that way! :o) In fact, I tend to want to overeat, so my new family MUST monitor my food intake or I could become overweight very quickly. And when you DO give me treats, you better watch out for your fingers! It's not that I'm trying to bite you, it's just that I'm so eager to wolf down a yummy tidbit that I don't worry about such incidentals as fingers. (Snicker!)

My foster mommy says I'm a such a terrific dog that she doesn't understand how anyone could possibly want to give me up. I love being bathed and brushed, and I don't even mind having my nails trimmed. I'm VERY affectionate and will snuggle with you at every opportunity. If you let me, I will even sleep in your bed with you!

So if you're looking for a sweet, playful, cuddly type of companion, look no further, because I'm right here! If you're interested in me and would like more information, please contact Kim at: kim@eskierescuersunited.org. Better yet, you can go to our web site at: www.eskierescuersunited.org and fill out an adoption application for me!

There is an adoption fee required, and whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state. I'm in Bassett, VA with my foster mommy, Virginia.

To get me to you, we can do what's called an "Eskie Railroad," which is a group of volunteer drivers who will each drive a certain portion of the transport. (We always ask that you, as the adopter, help out by taking the final leg.) If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you may have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you).

Also, please be aware that Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.

Thank you, and many hugs and Eskie kisses!
