About Columbo (aka Bo)

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • Rescue ID: 04-055
Hi, my name is Columbo, but you can call me Bo! I'm a 6-year old standard-sized American Eskimo boy who weighs 28 pounds and stands just short of 16 inches tall. I was blessed with a beautifully full and fluffy white coat, as you can tell by these pictures of me!

I'm neutered, current on all my shots, heartworm negative and on heartworm prevention. I started life as an outdoor dog, but it's been kinda cool learning about indoor life with my new foster family. And boy, do I like the good life!!! I've started working on this housebreaking thing and am doing pretty well so far! I don't mind staying in a crate at night just to be safe--besides, it's all mine and I can hide my toys and bones in there. (But don't tell anyone; it's my secret place - hehehe!)

I'm not a very talkative guy and only bark when I get excited! I crave all the attention I can get and will let you pet, stroke and brush me all day long. I don't even mind very much sitting still for a bath, because I can shake myself off and share my bath with you! :o)

I will need a firm/authoritative but loving hand. My foster parents think I might have been treated roughly and ignored by former male authority figures, so I will need lots of love and reassuring affection. I'm learning how to give kisses, and will sometimes bump you with my paw when I need a bit of loving!

I try to make friends with all the new dogs I meet, but it seems most of the male dogs don't want me in their territory, so It might be best if I weren't added to an already established male dog environment. My foster mommy says they must be jealous 'cause I'm so gorgeous and have such a lovely walk. Oh, I will definitely need a fenced-in yard, because if I manage to get off the leash by accident, I could challenge an Olympic runner! I don't run to be bad though, it's just that there's just soooo much stuff out in the world to see and I'm terribly curious about it all! Obedience classes and agility training would be good for me and lots of fun for us to do together.

I get along well with kids ages 9 and up. I also get along ok with my foster sister, Sweetie (she's a cat!!!). She goes her way, I go mine. I've even been able to meet some ferrets, lizards and hamsters and I don't bother any of them! I just like investigating all the different animals and people I can find. I'm a lover, not a fighter!

I'm looking for that really special person or family that needs my loving and wants to share theirs with me as well. Are you the one I'm waiting for?

If you are interested in me, we can do what's called an "Eskie Railroad" if I'm not local to you. This is a group of volunteer drivers who will each drive a certain distance to get me to you! I'm in central Illinois with my foster mommy, Angela. If you would like to know more about me, please send an e-mail right away!

Please contact Leah at: leah@eskierescuers.org for more information on me!

You can also go to our web site at: www.eskierescuers.org and fill out an adoption application for me!

Thank you and WOOF!

Bo !

Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.

If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers.

There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.

Eskie Rescuers United American Eskimo Dog Rescue, Inc. is an IRS-approved 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Please click the donation button below to make a tax-deductible donation through PayPal and help make a difference to even one American Eskimo dog!
