UPDATE 11/13/06--I HAVE AN ADOPTION PENDING. Shhhhh....I have a secret to tell you. My name is Dollee and I am that rare "short-haired Eskie." But once everybody sees how cute I am, somebody's gonna want me so much they'll grab me right up! Are you that "just right" forever family I'm looking for?

There's so much to tell you about me, it's hard to know where to begin. Before I came into rescue, I had been used as a breeding dog and wasn't given any love or attention, so I was very shy and scared. Now that I've found out what life is all about, I've come out of my shell and blossomed into a wonderful little girl!

I walk on a leash like a little darling. (I'm too small to pull much, but I wouldn't do that anyway.) I love to go anywhere my humans go. I ride well in the car; I look out the window some, but mostly I just sleep and enjoy the ride.

I'm crate-trained, and when I first came into rescue I would take refuge there whenever I was unsure or got scared. It was the only safe place I knew! But now I really dislike my crate--there are no humans in there, especially really nice ones like my foster mommy and daddy! So they have to cover the crate at night so I won't bark. (The easiest solution would be just not to put me in that thing in the first place!)

I interact well with all my foster brothers and sisters. Actually, I like to sneak their toys and take them behind the couch. I'm so small, and they're so big, they can't get me! HeeHee! So now I have a whole stockpile of toys back there! (This is a major change from when I was first rescued, because back then I didn't even know what toys were or what I was supposed to do with them!)

I like to run and roughhouse with my friends, which is another turnaround for me--I never used to know what playtime was! However, I really prefer to lie on the couch and wait for unsuspecting humans to sit down. Then I nuzzle and nuzzle and NUZZLE with my cold little nose, until they have no choice but to pet me. Once these humans start petting they won't be able to stop...I won't let them! If they do stop, I start nuzzling again! My foster dad says I have the coldest nose ever...he calls me "Snowcone." Isn't he funny?

I probably wouldn't do well with small children, but older kids would be great! I've seen those cat things out the window, but I haven't paid much attention to them. Though we haven't met face to face, I might chase them if we ever do.

As I mentioned before, I do have short hair. How convenient is that? You get all the wonderful traits of an Eskie without all that hair! Now that's something you've just got to love!

I'm a very good snuggler, and I'll get under the covers with you and sleep throughout the night if you'll let me. I'm longing intensely for a loving, caring forever family to nuzzle with my cold nose and to snuggle with in their warm bed. Is that you? Won't you help out a sweet girl like me?

Eskie Hugs and Kisses!

Dollee

A note from my foster mom, Jane:

Dollee came from some pretty harsh conditions. People in general had not done anything good for her or to her. She was kept kenneled most of the time and had been used over and over for breeding. Once her "owners" got all they could out of her, they took her to the pound, a shelter with no heat or running water (in the middle of winter!). She was pulled and brought into foster care.

Dollee was scared and shy and really had no reason to think any person would treat her well. Look what had already happened in her short life! She had every reason to mistrust, and no reason to give anyone a second chance.

But unlike most "people," Dollee gave us a second chance. She allowed us to show her we weren't all so bad. In response to our love and care she came alive! She is a spunky, loving and happy little dog who craves human companionship and love. Can you give such a deserving little dog a home? You won't be sorry!

Thanks!
Jane (foster mom)

If you're interested in me and would like more information, please contact Bill: bill@eskierescuers.org or feel free to e-mail my foster mommy, Jane, directly at: matt7731@bellsouth.net. You can also visit our website and sign-up to fill out an adoption application and learn more about our adoption process.

Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.

To get me to you, we can do what's called an "Eskie Railroad," which is a group of volunteer drivers who will each drive a certain portion of the transport. (We always ask that you, as the adopter, help out by taking the final leg.)

If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you may have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you).

There is a $150 adoption fee for me, and please be aware that Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.
