Hi there! My name is Oakley, but you can call me Oakie.  I'm proud to be a beautiful, miniature-sized American Eskimo dog.

I'm neutered, heartworm negative and up-to-date on all my vaccinations. I am on monthly prevention for heartworm, flea and ticks.

I'm housebroken and crate-trained and I love to go for rides in the car! I prefer to be an only furkid, but if you have a mellow dog, we could still be friends. I like cats but if they want on the bed at the same time as me, I will growl at them. I have learned basic obedience manners, and it would be great if my forever home would continue with my training. I love treats - especially chicken jerky! Mmmm Mmmm! So bring some of that along while we work on our manners together :o)

I have a beautiful fluffy coat, which I like to show off -- don't you think I'm handsome? Actually, my pictures don't do me justice. And I'm not just a pretty face either. I'm a very loving, playful and sweet little guy who would make a great, devoted forever companion to my new human - will that be you?

I was adopted a couple of years ago, but my mommy was in a car accident and has some other things come up. She would really like to keep me, but because of some limitations, she's no longer able to take proper care of me.

You see, I've become what they call "pleasantly plump" but I need lose about 6-7lbs in order to be healthier. My mommy is heart-broken to have to return me, but she loves me enough to do what's best for me and not what she wants to do.

I don't like to share my toys with people, I will also bark and be a typical eskie when people come to the house. I will settle down, but I still need that warm-up time. There has been a time or two when I didn't like a particular person, but my mommy says they're few and far between.

If you're interested in me and would like more information, please contact Deborah: deborah@eskierescuers.org. You can also visit our website and sign-up to fill out an adoption application and learn more about our adoption process.

Thank you and WOOF!

Good with Dogs

Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.

If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers.

There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.

Eskie Rescuers United American Eskimo Dog Rescue, Inc. is an IRS-approved 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Please click the donation button below to make a tax-deductible donation through PayPal and help make a difference to even one American Eskimo dog!
