Learn more about the American Eskimo Dog.
Hello, my name is Murphy! I'm a 2-year old standard-sized American Eskimo male who stands approximately 18 inches tall and weighs 25 pounds. I'm neutered, current on all of my vaccinations, heartworm negative and on heartworm, flea and tick prevention. I'm also housebroken and kennel-trained. I love to go for car rides and on nice long walks with you, though I do need a little more leash-training. My foster mommy just found out that I like to play in the water! (I was pushed in by one of my Eskie "buds," but once in the water I realized how much fun it was!) I get along great with dogs, cats and birds too! I even love to watch the fish tank. I'm also very good with kids--especially if they don't spend all day in front of the TV. Because I'm so active, I want to be in a house full of people and other pets who will play and interact with me as much as possible! Though my foster mommy doesn't have any infants or toddlers, we don't think that would be a problem, on account of my sweet disposition. I just love everyone! I am the best little boy. I'm just as happy staying near you as I am playing with the other dogs. My foster mommy says I'm turning into a real "play nut" and that I would do well in a multi-dog household (provided the other dogs aren't older and more sedentary, because she says I would irritate them to death! What does she mean by that? TeeHee!). I am very affectionate and love to snuggle and get petted--what a life! (I'm quite the baby and love to be treated like one!) I will eat just about anything, even my green beans! My foster mommy gives me a wienie in the morning, which I gobble right up. That's good stuff! I also love my chewy treats as well. I don't need an experienced Eskie owner because I'm so easy going and care-free. Wouldn't you love to adopt me into your home so I can prove to you what a wonderful boy I am? I know I'm waiting for my new forever family--will that be you? If you're interested in me and would like more information, please contact Leah at: leah@eskierescuersunited.org. You can also go to our web site at: www.eskierescuersunited.org and fill out an adoption application for me. There is an adoption fee required, and whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state. I'm in McMinnville, TN with my foster mommy, Beth. To get me to you, we can do what's called an "Eskie Railroad," which is a group of volunteer drivers who will each drive a certain portion of the transport. (We always ask that you, as the adopter, help out by taking the final leg.) If I?m not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you may have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Also, please be aware that Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs. Thank you and WOOF! Murphy!
