Perfetto!  Bello!  Magnifico!

Hi, I'm Nicky.  I don't speak Italian, but those words mean perfect! handsome! and magnificent! -  and my foster mommy says they describe me perfectly.  Well....most of the time, anyway!

I was surrendered to a rural shelter for nothing that I did wrong - I was one too many dogs in the house, so out I went.  I was so terrified in the shelter, and fortunately, the staff knew I wasn't doing well there and reached out to local rescues.  So now I am living with my foster mommy and daddy and their two siblings, and I am so happy.  I love our morning and evening walks, the good food, having a nice soft bed to sleep on, playing with my foster sister, and all the loving cuddles, kisses and snuggles I get.  I hope when I find my very own forever home, it will be this wonderful.

I am a male American Eskimo and estimated to be about 3 years old.  I am neutered, heart worm negative, and have no known medical issues.  And I am beautiful......I look just like a white arctic fox.  I am very smart - I learned my name in just a few days.  I get along well with dogs that I know - not sure about cats, but my mommy says I have a pretty high prey drive - so I might want to chase them, like I do the the lizards on the lanai and the squirrels.  I really want to catch a squirrel.  I haven't been around any children in my new home, but mommy thinks I would be fine around older ones.

As perfect as I am inside the house, mommy says I need to work on my outside manners, and that I would benefit going to a basic training class.  What???  That sounds awful!  Mommy is working on "sit" and "stay" with me, and I do sit for my breakfast and dinner now.  She says where I need the most work is in my outdoor socialization skills.  I suppose I do lunge at things that are moving, and I'm not very friendly to strange dogs we see on the street, and I hate, hate, HATE bicycle riders and will try to nip at them if given the chance.  Oh, oh.....that doesn't sound very good, does it?  I guess I DO need some work on my outside manners......

I really love to run and miss being able to do this.  My ideal forever home would have a fenced in yard, where I could run and maybe chase lizards or squirrels.  I am uncomfortable at dog parks, so we don't go those right now.  I need a firm, but patient and loving owner who will take me on long walks and work with me on my outdoor leash and social skills.  I can do better, I promise.  Mommy says she is already seeing improvement in just a few days.

I sure hope you are interested in hearing more about me and that you will want to meet me - you won't be sorry!  I am in Bradenton, FL.  Please email my foster mommy at dyanlaphan@aol.com.

Ciao!.......Nicky

Good with Dogs

Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.

If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers.

There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.

Eskie Rescuers United American Eskimo Dog Rescue, Inc. is an IRS-approved 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Please click the donation button below to make a tax-deductible donation through PayPal and help make a difference to even one American Eskimo dog!
