August 18th.  Casey is a great girl but has the quirk of yelping or mouthing when startled.  She was raised with a woman but not with children or cats.  A one or two adult home would be ideal.  She is fine with her sometimes rude Eskie hosts and is non-confrontational.  Since she is shy at first she will need time to know her forever home and family have found her once she is adopted.

UPDATE July6th.
Now that Casey has been here longer I realized I misread her yelping signals.  She now does this when she doesn't want to leave the recliner and cool fan breeze.  It is pitiful to see but a great con job.

Second lesson is Casey would be fine with an older dog that respects her space.  Although not a play mate she would be a fine walking companion for a fur friend.

I cannot cat or kid test her but older, respectful children who are not looking for a whirlwind dog would be fine.  Casey is just the best, funny and loving girl.

Hello! My name is Casey and I have suddenly found myself in need of a new home! My former family loved me very much but they weren't able to take care of me any more.

June 30:  This sweet and beautiful girl has been fostered for a month...the last week with me and five other Eskies.  Casey does not interact with any of the dogs so would not be a companion dog for your curent fur love.   A quiet adult home would be best.  Casey has plenty of energy to explore outside, go for walks and stick her nose into your business.  She is quite charming and very quiet in that she has only barked twice since she arrived.   She likes to follow me around or settle down with a squeaky toy.  She is lovely in the car and on leash.  I broke my own rule and let her sleep with me.  Casey settles in right away.  She does not kick, roll or steal blankets.

Casey likes people.  A bit shy at first but warms up quickly.  She is use to women although she was fine with the pilot who brought her to Maine and the airport personnel.

Casey's quirk is she will yelp if you try to pick her up.  She occassionally yelps and bolts when her collar is lightly touched.  She does not bite.  This quirk puzzles me as Casey enjoys being on the leash and going outside!  99% of the time she loves having her neck scratched under her collar.

Casey came up from the south and currently has a summer cut.  I think she will have a medium coat when it grows out.

Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.

If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers.

There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.

Eskie Rescuers United American Eskimo Dog Rescue, Inc. is an IRS-approved 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Please click the donation button below to make a tax-deductible donation through PayPal and help make a difference to even one American Eskimo dog!
