Fostered in San Francisco, CA. 6 yrs old, male, neutered, up to date on vaccinations. Experienced dog owners only. Eskie experience is a necessity.
Carl is a great little dog who has, unfortunately, had a bit of a rough life before he came to us, having gone through multiple homes and owners who couldn’t take care of him and didn't socialize him to the extent that he deserved. He prefers the company of humans, and his fear of other dogs can be unpredictable depending on the circumstances and can exhibit as aggressive behavior. He does have a history of exhibiting leash aggression. He has been with a trainer who had worked with him quite extensively and generously offered him a place to stay. They specialize in behavior and they have continued his training. This boy is ready for a home, and if the right home can be found in the local area of the trainer, they have graciously offered a few free lessons with the new owner to help Carl enter his new life with ease and sucess. We have conferred with the trainer and agree that he needs a quiet adult household and a fenced yard without too much outside stimulation.

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats
Special Needs: I'm a sweet, friendly guy to those in my family. I need a home without small children. It’s not that I
don't like them, they just make me nervous with their unpredictable movements and sounds. I love older kids and adults. I use to live with 2 dogs but can be intimidated with new dogs and show leash aggression. I am fine with cats. I'm very eager to please but I get nervous if I don't have a strong leader and structure. Would you be willing to take me to obedience training class? I'm really smart and like to learn new things.
Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.
If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers. There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.
Eskie Rescuers United American Eskimo Dog Rescue, Inc. is an IRS-approved 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Please click the donation button below to make a tax-deductible donation through PayPal and help make a difference to even one American Eskimo dog!
