Candy on my lap is even better But, I love Candy’s little white sweater Some day soon I’ll make her mine Then I’ll have Candy all the time
Hi, I’m the sweetest tiny little piece of Candy you’ve ever seen. Too much time with me and you might need to see the dentist. I have my own theme song; even if the words were changed from the original song by the only band name I can pronounce . . .Bow Wow Wow. When you meet me you’ll know the words are about me. You’ll want to have me with you all the time.
I was taken to the shelter because my family was having problems. Lucky for me, the people at ERU took me home. I am with two Reskie sisters, but I don’t really play with them, or their toys. What I really like best is their people. I can’t get enough attention from the people. I like every person I meet. I even like children if they don’t come up too fast. If you want a tiny little morsel to sit in your lap, I’m the one for you. I’m very gentle and very affectionate. That’s what makes me so sweet. But, don’t let my tiny size fool you, I have pounds of love to share.
I don’t see very much and sometimes bump into things, but it’s not a handicap because I’m so smart. I will follow sounds and I can figure out my space very quickly. When I have to do my not-so-sweet “business”, I can find the door and will ask to be let out. I do love to go outside. I have a microchip if I get lost, but because of my vision, it would be better to never let me outside by myself or off-leash. I might not be able to find my way home and then you would be very sad.
I am looking for a permanent home that needs a little Candy. I would prefer to be an only dog, but I wouldn’t mind living with another very gentle mellow dog who won’t bother me too much. I do need a family who will give me lots of love because I have lots of love to give back. If you think you want to take home a little sweet girl to love, please contact my people at hortmeye@gmail.com for a sample.
More about Candy in MD
Good with Dogs, Good with Kids
Special Needs: Nearly blind, but very functional. Quickly learns her environment.
Update: Candy had her vet appointment and saw a specialist for her eyes. She tested positive for Lyme and has started on a 30-day treatment of doxycycline. She is asymptomatic and should be 100% after treatment. The ophthalmologist found that Candy has retinal degeneration (inherited) which is causing the blindness. She does not have glaucoma or inflammation, and is not in any pain. Candy gets around very well and loves to go for walks and drives.
Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.
If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers. There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.
Eskie Rescuers United American Eskimo Dog Rescue, Inc. is an IRS-approved 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Please click the donation button below to make a tax-deductible donation through PayPal and help make a difference to even one American Eskimo dog!
