8/25/09 Chico will be going to his forever home in California in the next few days.
My name is Chico, I am a miniature American Eskimo male weighing 19.5 pounds and I am looking for a new forever home. I am 7 years old, and a very handsome boy. My parents were equally as beautiful, my father a champion and my mother a grand champion. My wonderful 95 year old master died just 4 weeks ago and I am anxious to make someone else as happy as I made my Sid. We were best friends and lived alone in his farm home in the country. I am completely housebroken and spent most of my time in the house watching over my best friend.
I am a house dog and do not want to be an outside dog, except to play. I would like a home with adults as I have not been around children much. I really like to chase cats and squirrels so probably best to not have a cat as a housemate. Like most dogs of my breed, I like to let my master know when a car drives in or somebody comes to the door. After an intial bark, I usually wag my tail and welcome the guest.
Chico is much loved by his deceased owner's daughter, however, she is severely allergic to him and cannot keep him. She said: Chico has come so far in the couple of weeks we have had him that we can hardly believe it. He was such a scared little boy who growled when we tried to put a collar or leash on him. He doesn't mind any of it now, sits and quietly waits to have his leash put on to go for a walk. He has gotten out a few times without it and comes back immediately when called -- no running away at all. He really likes to stick close to the house and to us for security. He has growled when I have to give him his meds but accepts that is his fate and would never bite, just complains a bit. My husband has brushed him and that has gone fine except he refuses to have his chest brushed. He's a very picky eater and we are working on that.
