Update: These girls are so adorable - they follow me around the house
wagging their tails. Today they explored their yard and woods and went
on a walk. They are perfect little doll babies, no trouble at all.
Sweet Emily and Chelsea just came into ERU. Their owner died and they found themselves at an Alabama shelter. It is possible that they were on their own for sometime because they are very thin and both are heartworm (HW) positive. We have started the gentle HW treatment which consists of 30 days of doxycycline and monthly ivermectin. We have had great success with the gentle treatment and the girls will most likely be HW negative in 9-12 months. ERU pays for all the treatment until they test negative. If you would like to learn more about the gentle method please download the HW file (HW091106.pdf) at the bottom of this page. I'll be adding more info about these very precious girls soon. Please e-mail me (hortmeye@gmail.com) if you are interested in adding one or both of these girls to your family.
