Feb 17: Today Max arrived in Maine - delayed a week due to the snow storm. From what his previous foster mom told me and what I can see Max is a love bug. He was very much loved by his previous owner and sadly returned to ERU due to difficult financial times.
Max fit right in with the four pack of Eskies here. After "hellos" they went about their business and Max followed me around for attention and probably food. Max is very over weight and will be on a slow, healthy diet while here. Update Feb 19: The three pictures of Max were taken today. He found a quiet corner away from the other dogs and washed his face like a cat. Slowly his head nodded, his eyes closed and he was down for the count. Max is the quietest Eskie I've dealt with and I've have only heard him bark once and that was when the fire engine went by the street. Max is not too fond of chaos and high energy dog play. When it's too rowdy here he will try to find me to be comforted. He is very submissive. Max would be fine as an only dog but I will not rule out another calm, not-too-playful canine campanion. Max seems to enjoy my alpha's company as he too is calm. Max did pick up a soft toy to play with but his ever rude host(s) stole it away. They shredded his favorite toy day one... Here is a fair warning (or promise) to you: Max wants to be with his person at all times. He is a Velcro/shadow/under-your-feet type boy and is happy just to sit by you. If you love this kind of dog Max is for you. If it drives you crazy it's not a habit you can break without punishing him for wanting to be near you. Max rides well in the car. He loves going for walks and needs LOTS of exercise to trim him down to a more healthy weight. As the weight comes off his forever family can work with their veterinarian to find the ideal weight for Max. Max's age is a bit of a puzzle. The veteranian who took care of him and did the dental work thought Max was closer to five years old.
