Hi. I’m a Salty Dog. That’s also my name. I don’t like to talk about it, so I can’t tell you about my previous life. I was living in a scary homeless shelter for dogs when a nice lady picked me up and took me to live with my nice foster family. I was brown then, but now I’m a nice biscuit-white color.

I have 2 foster fur-sisters. I don’t know what to think of them. One of them is grumpy and growls a lot, so I just leave her alone, but sometimes she scares me. The other one tries to play with me, but I’m not really sure what that means, so I just look at her until she leaves me alone, even when she jumps on me. I hardly ever growl or bark. I would really just prefer to hang out with my foster parents and cuddle. In fact, I follow them everywhere and sleep at their feet or nudge them for a pat on the head. They say I’m very sweet.

I did really well with my bath and then sat perfectly still for a really long time while my foster mommy brushed tangles out of my hair. Brushing tugged a little bit, but I didn’t complain. You see, I have a very thick, beautiful coat and it would be a shame to have to shave me.

I am learning about things called “treats”. I prefer them put on the floor, then I pick them up gently. After I trust you, if you really want me to, I will even take it from your hand. If you try to take my food from me, I won’t argue with you. I guess if you gave it to me, you can take it away.

Next week, I’m going to get “vetted and neutered”. I don’t know what that means, but if my foster parents are taking me, I’m sure it will be fun. As much as I like it in my foster home, they can’t keep me forever because they already have furbabies. I would LOVE to come live with you, so I can follow you everywhere and nudge you for pats on the head. So, if you want to take me home, shoot me an e-mail at eskiekisses@aol.com or gina@eskierescuers.org. You can also visit our website
and we’ll see if we can arrange what will hopefully be our first play-date of many.

Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.

If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers.

There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.

Eskie Rescuers United American Eskimo Dog Rescue, Inc. is an IRS-approved 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Please click the donation button below to make a tax-deductible donation through PayPal and help make a difference to even one American Eskimo dog!
