Hi my name is Allak and I am senior Eskie who needs to find a new home. My Mom of 12 years, ever since I was a puppy, has had two new skin kids and I just not do well with the little ones running by me all the time. They make me nervous and in turn make my Mom nervous which makes me even more nervous. A vicious cycle that is just hard to adjust to at my age.

I am in very good health. I had a teeth cleaning 4 years ago and probably could use one of those about now. I do take medication for a seizure disorder I have had since I was three but have not an episode since then. The meds really work and my Mom will even continue paying for them if that helps the family that chooses to give me my furever home. I have had an ever so slight loss of hearing and sometimes the little kids surprise me and that scares me so I don’t always react correctly. I will do great with older children it is just the toddlers that really make me nervous.

In fact if you have a child that wants a loyal companion for doing homework with or just watching a movie that is me. I also love to curl up with you and sleep. I am not much of an outside dog I usually just make a trip out there to go to the bathroom so that of course means I am housetrained as you call it.

I don’t like to be on a leash but with some training I could probably adjust. I jump up and try to bite it. I’ve never really been walked. I always just go out into the yard to do my business and then come in.

I used to have full run of the house but now with the little ones and how nervous my Mom is about my behavior I am kept in the garage or laundry room during the day. At night they let me stay in the kitchen, but I really would like someone to curl up with when I sleep.

I let the vet do what they need to for my exams but I am nervous and shake a lot. I bark at strangers if the approach too quickly will lower my head and give a low growl. I am loyal to my person and protective until I know things are safe. I mean hey it is what my breed is known for.

I chase cats but play with other dogs after the proper introductions. I love to play with my toys and like to be left alone when given a treat to fully enjoy it.

I love to ride in the car especially in the front seat with my Mom but now I usually have to ride in the back of the van. I know one word commands such as “sit, stay and up”

I really am a loving older gentleman that hopes there is a family out there that would like to give me my furever home and I will be loyal to them till the end.

One other thing my Mom has always kept me well groomed and in prep for my adoption pics got me my summer cut so you are not seeing my beautiful long coat I have. So adopt me and watch it grow in!

Please contact Roxanne at jdr@frontiernet.net if you are interested in helping me transition into a new life with you.

More about Allak

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Good with Kids

Special Needs: Slight loss of hearing. On seizure medication since 3 years old. Have not had one since then. Only older children no toddlers.

Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.

If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers.

There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.

Eskie Rescuers United American Eskimo Dog Rescue, Inc. is an IRS-approved 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Please click the donation button below to make a tax-deductible donation through PayPal and help make a difference to even one American Eskimo dog!
