After his owner left, TEDDY was left behind in the neighborhood he grew up in. He stayed close to the only house he ever knew as home, even after a new family moved into it. Neighbors had provided him with the basics food and water, but not much more until ARF was contacted for help.
Terrified and confused, ARF quickly realized shelter life was not for TEDDY. So he is now living in a foster home and has learned to trust humans again. He will do better in a quieter, less active home, one without small children (under 10 yrs). He will get very attached to his new family and will greet you excitedly when you come home. He is housetrained and isn't destructive when left alone. He gets along with other dogs (cats unknown) but could also be an only dog.
In addition to learning to trust humans again, TEDDY is also gaining confidence in himself as well, so he will need a home that is willing to recognize that there is a great dog inside him and be able to work patiently with him as that dog emerges.
If you are the person that can patiently continue to help TEDDY fully gain his confidence and trust, and allow him to blossom into the wonderful dog that is inside of him, please contact ARF at 251-478-9743 or email us at info@animalrescuemobile.org.
Teddy is heartworm positive and is being treated with the gentle method (ivermectin + doxycycline).
