Update May 2015 -
Toby was adopted out, but was returned as Toby took charge and bit two people.  Toby can be very aggressive and will need someone to very aware of this and be a strong Alpha; a Multi Dog family will help. Toby came from an abusive home and as a result developed an aggressive trait towards adult males, but just needs to be watched around all people closely. Toby is currently being sponcered by his Foster where is doing well under a watchfull eye
*****

Hello, I am Toby.  Like my pictures? I think they look good.  I have some light tan mixed in on my face and back, my chest is all white.  I think that the tan comes from the bit of Pomeranian that I have mixed in.  This also does not give me the normal really heavy coat that most true Eskies have, mine is a little thinner, but don't let that fool you 'cause I still shed a little..  It is still long and I like to be brushed, helps keep me looking good.

I am on the smaller side as far as Eskies sizes, only about 14 lbs.   I am still young and have lots of energy to run around with.  I enjoy walks and playing fetch.  I also like to play  catch-me-if-you can ... I can tire out the 10-yr old boy that I live with!  A fenced yard would be the best for me so I can expel some energy.  When my foster parents take me to the large dog parks, boy, do I have fun!  There are other dogs to play with and squirrels to chase.

My foster parents have been really good to me.  They have been working on my training as my previous owner couldn't devote enough time to me for that.  I am still a little shy of adult males, but my foster dad assures me that they are okay.   I really like kids as they have as much energy as I do but not young ones (like babies)  as they pull my hair - ouch!

I am good with other dogs and cats.  I do chase the cats that are here when they run by me, but for the most part I just watch them.  I also like to lay on your lap while you are watching TV or reading so please invite me up to join you, I will repay you with Eskie kisses and keeping your lap warm.

I need someone who is Eskie savvy (that means someone that knows our breed real well) and one that can take charge and be alpha.  Someone who stays home a lot would be great too and I would do better in a multi-dog home where I cannot take charge.  And, golly, I would just love a nice yard with a fence to play fetch in.   Is this asking too much for a cute little guy like me?   I will repay you with Eskie kisses, keeping  your lap warm, and bringing you smiles every day.

Please fill out an application for me so I can be a part of your family or you can email my foster parents at ssneurauter@yahoo.com for more information.

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids

Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.

If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers.

There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.

Eskie Rescuers United American Eskimo Dog Rescue, Inc. is an IRS-approved 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Please click the donation button below to make a tax-deductible donation through PayPal and help make a difference to even one American Eskimo dog!
