About Eli of MD

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • Rescue ID: 12-0012
  • Current Size: 24 Pounds
  • Potential Size: 32 Pounds
  • Current Age: 22 Years 3 Months (best estimate)
  • Location: Randallstown MD 21133
  • Housetrained: Yes

Update 3/15/12:  Eli's liver enzymes have really improved so he had his teeth and gums taken care of with only one extraction needed.  He continues to get stronger and healthier every day.  He only wears his wraps while I am at work and very rarely has wet pants.  He has gained four pounds and we're working on his taking treats gently from my hand.  He is a joy and a delight!

Update 3/4/12:  Eli's UTI has cleared up but his liver enzymes are still elevated, although returning toward normal.  We will hold off on dentistry for another week or two.  Eli's wrap is very rarely wet and I never see him lift his leg in the home so I do believe he is house trained.

Update 2/24/12:  Eli had blood work and urinalysis run and he has a UTI and elevated liver enzymes.  He will continue on antibiotics for another two weeks before recheck.  He is a gentle sweet soul.  He likes everyone, human and dog alike.  I can't tell whether he is housetrained yet because of the UTI.  He has been wearing a male wrap (belly band) in the house which he tolerates very well.

This sweet and beautiful eskie boy just arrived into rescue.  Eli was picked up as a stray and wound up at Durham County Animal Control in NC.  The shelter contacted us as they knew his time was limited.  Eli is very gentle and gets along with all the other dogs here.  He will be getting his teeth cared for soon as he has severe peridontal disease and needs several extractions.  Eli is heartworm positive and has started on the gentle treatment (see "Gentle Heartworm Treatment 1/1/12" under Info & Help on the left-hand side of the page).  Please check back for updates.

Good with Dogs

Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.

If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers.

There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.

Eskie Rescuers United American Eskimo Dog Rescue, Inc. is an IRS-approved 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Please click the donation button below to make a tax-deductible donation through PayPal and help make a difference to even one American Eskimo dog!
