Hi my name is Keegan, but my foster parents call me Kiki. I am a sweet, loving, 18 month old female. I am currently 13 pounds, which is a little skinny, but I’m eating good food now and hope to fill out a pound or two. My hair is very short, but maybe it will grow some with better nutrition.
I am very good with other dogs and enjoy running circles around them and playing chase in the yard. My foster family also has two kitties that I see and sniff, but they don’t play with me like my doggie brother and sisters do. I haven’t really figured out how to play with toys, but I did have fun yesterday for a few minutes with a ball. So I think I might enjoy playing more, as I get more practice and watch my siblings.
Apparently in my previous home I was child and male aggressive. The shelter I was at for 3 weeks worked with me on my aggression issues. Now I’m still timid around men, but I haven’t growled at anyone since being in my new foster home. In fact I even come to my foster dad (sometimes), as he seems like a nice man. But, I really love my foster mommy, and I definitely prefer going to sit with her instead of daddy. So I will probably need some time to become familiar with a man in my new forever home. My foster home doesn’t have any children so I don’t know how well I will do around kids.
I still have to work on the basic training. I am starting to “sit” when told, and I do even better when I smell a treat. I am having a hard time with “come”, mostly because I am still a little scared and submissive and not sure what will happen; so I need more practice. But I am potty trained and run to the back door and scratch when I need to go outside. I have learned the rules of my new home very fast in the past few days. I know that the kitty food is not for me, and my food bowl is the other one right next to it. I know I cannot beg at the dinner table, and instead I lie down next to my family while they eat. I did have an issue where I would get sick while traveling in a car, but my foster family has been working with me on that for several days with short car trips and I haven’t gotten sick since then.
I like my tummy rubbed, especially first thing in the morning when everyone wakes up. I will “paw” at you for more tummy rubbing if you stop too soon. While my family watches TV in the evening, I lie down in the chair with my mom and rest. I sleep very well through the night, in the bed with my family.
I am going to be spayed on March 13th so I'll be available to go to my new home any time after March 20th. Won’t you please consider me for your family?
