JULY 12:  ADOPTION PENDING

June 25th:
Molly is not the same little girl who came to me about eight weeks ago.  I worked with her and earned her trust on her "comfort clock" not on my expectations.  My reward for helping her through her fears is the most wonderful little Eskie diva.  She is fairly dominant and on occasion tries to literally herd me in a different direction from where I am going.  I just tell her "no" and shake her off.  Since Molly knows she is safe and won't be hurt she can be a little devil when it suits her.  She has the most amazing vertical jump I've seen.  Molly is also interested in negotiating for items she wants and I won't let her have.  Well, OK, she sits and barks her demands and I sit and tell her "no".  The other three dogs just dance around clueless about diplomacy, bribes and blackmail.

The right adult family will have experience with fearful dogs.  Poor Molly. I was swinging a large envelope the other day and of course nosy Molly thought it was her business.  If smacked her in the nose and she took off to her crate afraid she had been bad.  It took me a while to convince her she was OK and I was not angry with her.  Special people will understand this strange reaction to accidental "hits".  It is very real for the dogs.  I am in no hurry to find the right home for this little beauty so if you are interested in her you must complete an ERU application that shows you have experience with fearful little fur kids.

Molly is also better with cats.  She won't hurt them but totally annoys them by sticking her Eskie nose in one of their ears and huffing.  Well, no one likes that for goodness sakes. If she joins a cat owning family the reigning cat should smack her around a bit to set out the rules.  Cats rule, dogs drool.

June 7th:
Molly is more than ready to go home to adults who are smart, patient and alpha to their pets and have experience with smart, sneaky, highly intelligent dogs such as American Eskimo Dog breed.

Molly's owner surrender form lead one to believe she had no bad habits.  Molly had and has a few.  All are correctible with the right two legged adult family.  NO children as I cannot confirm she is OK with them and Molly has trust issues.

- Molly does need a small size muzzle at the vets.

Molly is young, full of herself and a complete love for adults that can work with her fears of being hurt.  If I wave my hand near her she gets afraid and cowers on the floor.  That just breaks my heart.

Since Molly has been here six weeks I have put her through the wringer of living in boot camp with my three Eskies and my two elderly cats.  I have NO qualms about picking Molly up and holding her close.  Aside from being able to brush her she also loves rolling on her back for tummy scratches.  I had to earn this trust and so will her forever family.  Someone will see Molly as a diamond in the rough and help her gain confidence in herself and people.  It could take weeks before she trusts you.  When she does you will have the most wonderful little girl as your companion.

Molly is very vocal and loves to share her opinions about everything.  You need to be growly/vocal experienced to understand she is not angry.

Quirks:  Molly loves her raggedy blanket and won't share it with anyone.  She hauls it around to the perfect spot somewhere in the house and leaves it.  No one, two or four legged, should touch it.  Occasionally she adds one or two of my pillows to her moving bedroom setup then leaves it and sleeps in the blanket-less and pillowless crate.  Just go with it.

May 26th:
Molly has come a long way in the month she has been here.  She is still a little diva but lets her company manners show.  Recently Molly let me brush her with no blood drawn (my blood).  I did not do her tail as I do not want to add undue stress to her new life.  Molly is still a little girl with a big attitude who must go to a fiesty dog savvy home.  Molly is sweet beyond belief once the rules are clear.  When her forever home is found I willl list the rules she lives by.  She really is a happy little girl not carrying the weight of the world on her shoulders.  Right now I have no problem holding and snuggling up to Molly.  I've been gently tugging her tail and ears so she becomes desensitized to this activity.  I would not wish any children on her so adults only should apply.  Molly will need more work in her new home and part of that is confidence building.  Molly's family will need to earn her trust.  She is crate trained and will go in if she is not confident about a new experience.

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.

If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers.

There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.

Eskie Rescuers United American Eskimo Dog Rescue, Inc. is an IRS-approved 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Please click the donation button below to make a tax-deductible donation through PayPal and help make a difference to even one American Eskimo dog!
