Hi my name is Tiki, which I am embarrassed to say is short for Tequila. I love the short version though and think it fits me well. I was never vetted…so therefore ended up having a litter of pups before I was a year old. Since I am only 15 months now that was pretty young!

My foster Mom is getting me all my shots and in fact today I am at the vets getting spayed. I did test positive for Lyme disease but am heartworm negative. The vet and all the tecs fell in love with me because after I get over my initial fear of meeting someone new (I do a lot of aggressive barking trying to keep them away) I love to be loved! I never flinched when they stuck me to draw blood or give me shots.

I am also very well behaved for my bath and brushing. I don’t flinch even in those sensitive spots when I get brushed.

I am high energy and love to run and run. I also toss my ball in the air roll on my back and catch it. This is a trick I taught myself! I am even playing with my foster Mom’s big dogs after I realized they would not hurt me. When I first met them I barked and tried to bite them in the face. They just turned their head and looked at foster Mom saying another one? Foster Mom corrected me right way and I picked up real quick she did not like that.

I am a very alpha dog and will need someone who will teach me well and not baby me because I will take over. I have gotten into a couple of scraps with Sophie the resident alpha foster and since I don’t back down she has gotten a taste of her own medicine so to speak. My foster Mom does not like it at all and since I want to please her have tried to avoid Sophie as much as possible.

I love to cuddle, be held and petted. I sleep curled around my foster Mom’s head or in the crook of her neck. When the other dogs come near I growl but Foster Mom corrects me on that as well. There is just so much to learn!

I am house-trained but in new and scary situations I do piddle sometimes. I am also crate-trained. I need some obedience classes and to learn how to take treats gently. My foster Mom also talks about things such as sit, stay and come…which I have not quite figured out what they are. I tug on a leash and will also need work in that area.

In my previous home I was terrorized by “kids” and ran after one biting her in the ankle. My foster Mom says I would be best in a home without any “kids” and if there is another dog should be a pretty mellow one. Jessie the senior foster here likes to growl when someone gets in his personal space. Well I took that as a challenge and took him on. Again foster Mom said no and I even ended up in my crate with a time out.

I cannot be in a home with cats or other small pets. Although my foster Mom thinks I could be part cat the way I grab on and crawl up the side of the bed or the couch.

My teeth were full of tarter even at my young age but foster Mom feeds us these wonderful pork neck bones that do wonders for my teeth.

Well that pretty sums it up…oh yea I like to swim…that is why I am wet in the picture.
If you would like to give me a furever home and are committed to helping learn to be a good Canine Citizen send my foster Mom, Roxanne an email at jdr@frontiernet.net

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.

If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers.

There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.

Eskie Rescuers United American Eskimo Dog Rescue, Inc. is an IRS-approved 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Please click the donation button below to make a tax-deductible donation through PayPal and help make a difference to even one American Eskimo dog!
