Evan is a handsome 9-year young miniature Eskie in need of a new home. Evan has lived with his family for 7 years.  Unfortunately his canine brother has become more and more dominant over the years and life has become stressful for Evan.

We say 9-year young because Evan seems much younger than his age.  This is an energetic little guy! A bit reserved when he first meets you, it doesn't take long for Evan to warm up and want to be your buddy.  He loves couch time with his special person, enjoying belly rubs and snuggling and when it's time for a walk or a good romp in the yard Evan is ready. Evan knows basic commands such as sit, lay down. His leash manners could use a little work, mostly due to his exuberance.  He is housetrained but may need a refresher once in a new home. Evan does resource-guard food and he is very afraid of thunderstorms. He needs to be left alone when eating and will seek out a quiet spot during storms.

The ideal home for Evan would be with an active person or couple looking to share their lives with a very smart canine partner. He will benefit and enjoy ongoing training.  Like any typical Eskie he is  bright, he loves to learn and he has energy to spare.  Due to his issue with food possession an adult home or one with respectful children over 12 is recommended.  Evan may be able to share his home with a calm, laid back dog but would be just as happy being the center of attention in his new home.

Evan will be staying with his family in central Connecticut until the right new home can be found for him. If you would like to learn more about Evan please e mail Amy at  Amy.Leitch@yahoo.com Thank you!  Please complete the adoption application, found under forms.
Evan tested positive for lyme and is on Doxycycline, he will be treated and retested at the expense of Rescue

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.

If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers.

There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.

Eskie Rescuers United American Eskimo Dog Rescue, Inc. is an IRS-approved 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Please click the donation button below to make a tax-deductible donation through PayPal and help make a difference to even one American Eskimo dog!
