Hi, my name is Prince Smokey! I am a very handsome and lovable fella who wants to be the center of attention... just like most Royalty. I can jump and turn for my treats and I love jumping for the squirrels. Speaking of jumping, I could probably compete in those steeplechase races as I can easily clear a 4-foot fence so it's very important that my new home have a fence that's at least 6 feet. I would probably be a good candidate for agility training (I catch on very quickly) but you should probably consider taking me to obedience classes, at the very least.
I love to be held and have my belly rubbed! "Ooooooh, yeah, that's the spot". I am very affectionate but not a "velcro dog". My foster mom thinks I have the softest fur and it doesn't really tangle, but I also love to be brushed. She also thinks I am the SMARTEST foster dogs she has ever had. Look at my pictures... don't I look regal and bright? Mom says I "crack her up", whatever that means. She always says it when she's smiling though. I am totally crate trained, too. My foster mom just points to my kennel and I go in. I even go in all by myself when she picks up my food bowl to fill it! Because I'm so smart, I tend to get bored easily so my foster mom keeps me kenneled when she's not home to keep me out of trouble. But I always get good bones or chewies while I'm in my crate. And when I get out....oh boy! I run and skip all over the yard with my foster brother. We have a great time playing with each other and I'll burn up a lot of energy. I love, love, love to ride in the car because it give me the chance to see all my loyal subjects (teehee). And I love to swim!!! Got a pool? I'm a warning barker, like most Eskies, but actually pretty quiet. When I came into rescue, I tested positive for those icky heartworms, but I've gone through the treatment and I'm good to go. Because I've survived this nasty ailment, you will want to keep me protected with monthly heartworm prevention. If you're interested in me and would like more information, please contact Karon: karon@eskierescuers.org. You can also visit our website and sign-up to fill out an adoption application and learn more about our adoption process. Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I’m being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state. I'm in Shreveport, LA with my foster mommy, Karon. To get me to you, we can do what's called an "Eskie Railroad," which is a group of volunteer drivers who will each drive a certain portion of the transport. (We always ask that you, as the adopter, help out by taking the final leg.) If I’m not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you may have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). There is a $150 adoption fee required, and please be aware that Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs. Eskie hugs and kisses to you!
