Learn more about the American Eskimo Dog.
Hello, my name is Diana! I'm a small 6-year old standard-sized American Eskimo girl who stands 15 inches high and weighs 23 pounds. I'm a VERY special girl because I'm deaf! But I see very well and I know some hand signals too! I'm just a super sweet girl who loves to love you, and only wants to be loved back! I'm spayed, current on all my shots, heartworm negative and on heartworm prevention. I'm potty trained and housebroken. I'm a really good girl who is very quiet and rarely barks! My former owner recently clipped me for the summer, but my hair will grow back quickly enough! You can see from my pictures what I look like short- AND long-haired. I think I look beautiful either way, don't you agree? I am good with all people, other dogs, and cats too, because I'm such a laid-back little girl! I would be great for an older person, as I don't jump up on people and I'm not hyper at all! I love to curl up next to you while you read or watch TV. And I REALLY like to take walks on my leash! I will even do a quick little dance for you when I know I'm going for a walk, but then I'll sit very patiently while you hook me up. I walk very well and I do not pull at all! I also ride very quietly in the car. My front teeth are missing, which allows my tongue to slip out sometimes! (I've been told I look really cute when my tongue sticks out of my mouth slightly.) But in spite of the missing teeth I have no problems eating--not even Greenies, which I like a lot! If you are interested in me, we can do what's called an "Eskie Railroad" if I'm not local to you. This is a group of volunteer drivers who will each drive a certain distance to get me to you! I'm in Tampa, FL with my foster mommy, Lorri. If you would like to know more about me, please send an e-mail right away! Please contact Liz at: liz@eskierescuers.org for more information on me! You can also go to our web site at: www.eskierescuers.org and fill out an adoption application for me! Thank you and WOOF! Diana!

Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.
If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers.
There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.
