Learn more about the American Eskimo Dog.
Hello, my name is Kerri! I am a 2-year old miniature American Eskimo girl who weighs 20 pounds. I was found in a shelter where a very nice lady rescued me and brought me to my new foster home! I am such a beautiful girl, with the softest little head. And I'm always smiling at my foster mommy and daddy with that trademark Eskie smile! I'm recently spayed, current on all my vaccinations, heartworm negative and on heartworm prevention, as well as on flea and tick prevention. I'm also housebroken. My coat is starting to look healthy again, thick and fluffy just like my foster sister's. (I was covered with fleas when they found me, and the fur on my backside is pretty short from my scratching and biting it so much.) I'm a super playful pup that loves to romp around with the other dogs (though I tend to be a bit of an alpha dog who likes to have the upper hand). My foster parents don't have any kitties or children, so we're not sure how I'd do around them. I'm VERY full of energy and love to run around and play in my foster mommy's fenced-in yard-I just don't know when to stop! And boy, will I let you know when I want attention! My foster mommy thinks it's so funny when I attach myself to her when she walks in the door. She just laughs and laughs when I walk along right beside her on my 2 hind legs! :o) I adore attention, though I may act a bit shy at first, especially with men. Please have some patience with me. My foster mommy thinks I must have been mistreated in my past, as it takes me a little while to warm up to new people! I'm super-good in the car and will go right to sleep once we set out, because I find the ride so relaxing. I love all types of treats and really enjoy my chewies! My foster mommy thinks I will do well on the leash, but she hasn't had a chance to take me out on long walks yet due to my recent spaying. My foster mommy and daddy are working with me on basic commands. Though I don't quite understand why I have to put my butt to the floor when they say "sit," it sure is a good way to get treats, so I listen to them!! (I'm very smart that way! HeeHee!) I'm looking for a special family that will love me forever-will that be you? Given the chance, I will become your best friend and always be at your side! My foster mommy says I'm such a beautiful girl that I will get scooped up very quickly, so if you're interested in me you'd better hurry! If I'm not local to you, we can do what's called an "Eskie Railroad." This is a group of volunteer drivers who will each drive a certain distance to get me to you! I'm in Largo, Florida with my foster mommy, Sheila. If you would like to know more about me, please send an e-mail right away. Please contact Liz at: liz@eskierescuersunited.org for more information on me! You can also go to our web site at: www.eskierescuersunited.org and fill out an adoption application for me! Thank you and WOOF! Kerri!
Eskie Rescuers United
|
Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.
If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers.
There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.
