Learn more about the American Eskimo Dog.
Hi, my name is Mika! I'm 1-year old small miniature American Eskimo girl who stands 12 inches tall and weighs 15 pounds (and could stand to gain a pound or two). I'm still very much a puppy, which is why my owner gave me up. I was mostly kept in a cage, when I really needed to play and to be socialized. I'm spayed, current on all my vaccinations, heartworm negative and on heartworm prevention, as well as on flea and tick prevention. I'm mostly housebroken, though I need some reinforcement, but I'm very smart and am learning all about that very quickly. I'm also learning leash manners, and I hope to be properly leash-trained by the time you adopt me. I love other playful doggies, but cats don't seem to like it when I chase them and try to play with them! :o) So far I haven't shown much interest in playing with toys, but my foster doggie friends are showing me how to play with toys. I do love those chewy rawhide treats, though! Sometimes if I'm left alone and get bored, I think the bathroom rug is a chew toy, because I still am really a puppy. But I will learn quickly enough, especially from someone who is patient and kind with me. I would probably do very well in agility training, which would also be a good outlet for me to expend some of my energy. I love everyone, including children, but smaller kids might be knocked over when I run around the house, so slightly older children would probably be best (especially if they can take me for walks and run around outside with me). A home with a well-secured and fenced-in yard is an absolute must, because I run so very fast and might get away from you before you know it! I do calm down at night and will snuggle on the sofa while watching TV. I also like to be groomed, and I was an excellent patient at the vet's office-all the office staff just loved me. My foster mommy and daddy think I am the sweetest little girl, and though I may not be perfect, I'm certainly trying to be! Wouldn't you love to have me in your home and give me a chance at a wonderful life? I know I'm waiting for my new forever family-will that be you? If you're interested in me, we can do what's called an "Eskie Railroad" if I'm not local to you. This is a group of volunteer drivers who will each drive a certain distance to get me to you! I'm in Palm Beach Gardens, FL with my foster mommy and daddy, Kim and Jeff. If you would like to know more about me, please send an e-mail right away! Please contact Liz at: liz@eskierescuersunited.org for more information on me! You can also go to our web site at: www.eskierescuersunited.org and fill out an adoption application for me! Thank you and WOOF! Mika!
Eskie Rescuers United
|
Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.
If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers.
There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.
