Learn more about the American Eskimo Dog.
Hello, my name is Tara! I am a 10-year old miniature American Eskimo girl who weighs about 15 pounds. I am very lively, energetic and social, and love to be petted, carried and just shown attention in general! I have soft beautiful fur that stays very white. I have a scratchy bark and will definitely let you know when it's time for dinner or if I want to go for a walk! If you spell out the letters "G-O F-O-R," I will bark and dance around and just go nuts! I ADORE going for my walks and I walk very well on a leash! My best friend is another American Eskimo named Shard, whose profile and pictures you can also see on this website. We have been friends for a long time, and we would like to be adopted together if at all possible, but that's not a requirement. I have no problems with small children. I'm very obedient and will come when called. I am also house trained and have lots of good habits! Even though I have the energy of a puppy, I do not dig, nor will I zoom out of the gate or the house when you open the door! I don't bark too much and won't jump up on you or slobber, lick or scratch you! I am gentle and sociable, ride well in a car and am not scared of the vet (that's because I'm in such excellent health)! I am alert and happy, just a great little girl who will make you very happy as well! My foster mommy says that someone is going to scoop me up quickly. Is that someone you? Wouldn't you like to have me in your life so I can show you how sweet I really am? I want to be spoiled like the princess I am. I can't wait to get into my new forever home with you! If you are interested in me, we can do what's called an "Eskie Railroad" if I am not local to you!! This is a group of volunteer drivers who will drive a certain distance to get me to you! I am in Dothan, AL with my foster mommy, Pamela. If you would like to know more about me (and my pal, Shard), please send an e-mail right away! Please contact Liz at: liz@eskierescuers.org You can also go to our web site at: www.eskierescuers.org and fill out an adoption application for me! Thank you and WOOF! Tara!

Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.
If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers.
There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.
