Learn more about the American Eskimo Dog.
Hello, my name is Tonka! I am a 1-1/2 year old standard-sized American Eskimo boy who stands 16" tall and weighs just 22 pounds. I have the softest, SILKIEST fur, and it feels SO GOOD when you pet me! I am neutered, current on all of my vaccinations, heartworm negative and on heartworm prevention. I'm also potty trained. I'm great with other dogs, as well as with cats. I'm also very good with people. We're not sure about kids yet, but I'm so easy-going that I'm sure I'll like them just fine! I'm full of life and VERY playful, and love to run and explore and see new things! And I just LOVE giving kisses to everyone, especially to that special person who would love to have me in his or her life. Will that someone be you? Won't you give me a chance at a wonderful life? If you are interested in me, we can do what's called an "Eskie Railroad" if I'm not local to you. This is a group of volunteer drivers who will each drive a certain distance to get me to you! I am being fostered by my foster mommy, Ana, in Crestview, FL. If you would like to know more about me, please send an e-mail right away! Please contact Liz at: liz@eskierescuers.org for more information on me! You can also go to our web site at: www.eskierescuers.org and fill out an adoption application for me! Thank you and WOOF! Tonka!

Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.
If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers.
There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.
